Did you watch the Entourage finale, mandark?
Anyone else watch the Big Love finale? Now that's a hot show.

No, I have only watched up to the fourth episode. Is there going to be a third season?
MAF: Shatner is hot.
Distantmantra enabled me, plus I am running out of HBO shows to watch.

Any why on earth would anyone buy a CIVIL WAR FIRST PERSON SHOOTER.
God why not call it a FIRST PERSON RELOADER. Grunts didn't get repeater rifles in the Civil War.

Target was selling them yesterday. I'm not sure if anyone else is or if they're waiting for the 10th. Amazon was waiting so I bought at Target and canceled my pre-order so I could play Jeanne d'Arc.

Fuck you, I'm eating!
Wife is out of town overnight and I have some leftover ground venison that I didn't use when I made stuffed peppers a couple of weeks ago. Taco night!
Yeah, so I'm putting my impressions in here. The PSP Lite is to the PSP as the DS fat is to the DS lite, as far as elegance and design go. Functionally, it's by far a better system and should absolutely be preferred to the old model if you're buying a new PSP, but it's a shame that Sony didn't get usability right the first go-around on the classy PSP1000, since the new one feels toy-like and cheap by comparison.
The old textured back was much more classy, and I really appreciated the grips that made it feel more like a Sony controller. The whole system is glossy now, which makes for more fingerprints and less "touch comfort." I don't like the flat back as much, though I'm sure I'll adjust. The face looks less classy, as well - the face buttons look cheap, the stippling that gave the original its industrial appeal is gone, and it doesn't look like an sci-fi device anymore. It's still OK-looking, but cheaper and more generic.
I like the new UMD slot much better. The old one was senselessly complicated. This one's fast, functional, and simple. I liked the older memory card slot design better, but I don't care much. I'll miss the remote, but I'll live.
The weight reduction makes it much more comfortable to hold, but combined with the all-glossy-plastic construction it makes it feel toylike. I appreciated the "you are holding advanced and fragile electronics" feeling the old PSP gave. This is obviously a change for the better, but it's bittersweet.
The new speakers, despite actually facing at you, seem much worse than the old ones. The sound is tinny and less full than the old PSP. It doesn't seem as loud at maximum volume, either - though is there some iPod-esque volume limitation control in the menu?
The D-pad is raised much higher than the old one, for a much better experience. The buttons aren't raised as much by comparison, but they're a millimeter or two higher and that improves the experience. The shoulder buttons still don't feel great, but I think they're better. I don't notice any change in the nub. Though I long preferred Sega's more yielding button approach, which Sony adopted, I've come around to the Nintendo "firm" approach to buttons now and the mushiness of these is hard to get used to. (Though these are mushier than anything Sega ever put out, except maybe the Game Gear.)
My benchmark for terrible PSP controls was Katamari Damacy, which killed my hands on the old PSP. While it's still not very fun on the new PSP, it's much less frustrating and easier to play. I'll try Gunpey tonight - that was a game that I wanted to like but the controls drove me crazy on.
So, uh, anyone want a Family Guy UMD for cheap?
In this particular news bit we'll be reporting details two topics you guys may be very familiar with: The PSP Slim, and developer Dark AleX.
The first news bit goes that coder Mathieulh (aka Math) has successfully dumped the Slim's 3.60 firmware. To prove this point, Math posted a screenshot taken of the Slim's kd folder in the flash0 directory. That would be the screenie displayed to your right.
What makes this news all the more exciting is that Mathieulh reports the dude who helped with the dump is none other than Dark AleX. Yes, dear readers - the famed CFW creator has apparently come out of retirement (or is it now a sabbatical?) to take a crack at Sony's latest handheld offering. At the moment, Mathieulh won't divulge any details on how this procedure was pulled off - this exercise simply proves that hacking the Slim is possible.
Drop back again in case we pick up any details. Or, you can also opt to drop by Skyline34's thread over at the QJ.NET Forums, where we picked up this news snippet.
MUSKETSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Nah by the Civil War we had real rifles with proper barrel grooves and appropriate shot design for the guns. Maybe "rifled musket" might be the exact term, but I always thought of the US Civil War as the start of the age of rifleman, which I'm sure cost the union and confederacy and ungodly amount of food and gold to reach.
god I really need a TOTAL WAR take on the US Civil War. It's still years off though. :(
