stop buying new games and finish the ones you got!
-
Eat a butt, I just finished a game last weekend distinguished mentally-challenged fellow
-
I don't finish games anymore. I barely even play Bioshock.
It's all about multiplayer nowadays for me.
-
Stop playing shit like Persona 3 and you'll have time for better games, Himuro
-
I'm more of a one game at a time person right now. I refuse to juggle shit.
-
I bet MS Saga ends up > Persona 3
-
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
o god
Say it again, MAF
-
I bet MS Saga ends up > Persona 3

say it again MAF
-
I hate to say it because I still think it's a good game, but Persona 3 is the most disappointing of the PS2 Megaten games.
-
i've enjoyed the ten hours i spent with ms saga more than the ten hours i've spent with persona 3
sorry, himu, persona 3 is too japafag for even me

More disappointing than Devil Summoner. Oh TVC. :lol

You buy ACE3 yet? My copy (with the first pressing bonus!!! yay!!) is on it's way here from Tokyo.

I've decided to wait till it gets cheap.

Ah. I'll be sure to give some impressions when it gets here.
-
Oh yeah, ACE3. I should "rent it" today.

Seriously, MAF...you've gotten worse than I am about this, and that's an amazing feat to accomplish! :D
You haven't even beaten Bioshock yet...what gives?? :o
-
I don't even have ACE2 yet, no point in picking up the third one, and I don't really care about the first pressing extras if I have to pay so much extra to get it.

Yep. I liked Devil Summoner, although I figured Persona 3 would trump it. Devil Summoner was what it was, nothing more nothing less. Persona 3 is just blown potential. And a terrible soundtrack. I thought Persona 3 would really be open-ended, and allow you to develop your character however you wanted. Unfortunately, there's only one correct "tree" through every interaction, so only the illusion of choice is there. Coupled with disappointing dungeon crawling and the worst megaten soundtrack ever, Devil Summoner easily laps Persona 3. The only thing Persona 3 has over the other PS2 megaten games is the localization.

LYTE: MONKEY ON MUH BACk

It's time for an intervention. PUT DOWN THE GUNDAM. PICK UP THE BIOSHOCK. :maf

BO BO BO

Devil Summoner is Megaten lite. It has a watered down fusion system, easy as shit difficulty, boring battle system that isn't deep at all, random battles in towns, so forth. Persona 3 however, has challenging boss fights, a great battle system that's an evolution over Press Turn, a good story with good characters, good localization, and interesting take on an established genre. P3 has a hell of a lot more going for it than devil summoner. The only good things about devil summoner is that it, like P3 is an experimental game so it's pretty unique (although it doesn't nearly pull its experiment off as well as P3), the story (somewhat), and localization. It's by far the weakest SMT released stateside, while P3 could be arguably be considered the best. Persona 3's October boss fight was better than all of Raidou. Truth.
Music aside, which I pretty much agree on, I disagree entirely about what you say about P3. The dungeon crawling doesn't have any puzzles to it, but the quests add variety and fun to the dungeon crawling. Plus, the guardian boss fights can be a total bitch and require a few tries. The fact I can die at any moment because I have the wrong Persona equipped makes things just as interesting. Devil Summoner didn't feel like that at all. That game is easy as shit. While it's true that when talking to npcs you have to pick the right choices to level up the S. Links, P3 isn't open ended in that vein at all. It's open ended in that you can choose whatever the hell Persona you want to level up through S. Links. Often on any given day you have the opportunity to pick 10-12 different S. Links at once. This variety makes the game interesting 60, 70 hours into the game.
Hell, Digital Devil Saga is lower than Persona 3. It doesn't even have fusion or monster collecting.
-
haha oh teh fanboy
-
I would be lying if i said wasn't a Persona 3 fanboy, and that's because I love SMT to pieces

I lied. I bought it yesterday. It's better than 1 though I still am not used to the controls.

Woo!! Yeah!! According to EMS tracking, my copy is sitting at Narita waiting to ship out...

FMVs are gorgeous - this is what the Transformers movie shoulda looked like.

I loved the FMVs in both ACE1 and 2, cannot wait!
-
FMVs this time around are even BETTER. The mecha have a real sense of mass to them, especially Shin Getter, which is probably the biggest one.

Sweet. My copy of ACE3 has now cleared customs in San Francisco. Should be here early this week!

Do you know Japanese, Lyte Edge or do you just try to figure things out? Some Japanese only games look interesting to me but I'll never bother with playing a game that I can't read.

I know it's directed at Lyte, but four years of high school Japanese (1995-1999) and continued pathetic practice has helped me be able to get by in a lot of Japanese games that aren't language heavy RPGs.
And also, a lot of the action titles are easily manageable if you don't understand the language. The only one that's really flummoxed me and forced me to pull out some of my old text books is Kenka Banchou.

It was directed at you actually. No idea why I wrote Lyte Edge, except for the fact that he lives in Japan. :lol Can you read Japanese characters also? What do you call Japanese written w/English characters?

Yes, I can read hiragana, katakana, and about 100 kanji or so. Japanese written in English is called romaji.
It also helps to be familiar with the source material that anime-licensed games are based on, as many of them follow the same storyline.
