Even the tepid Pearl Jam releases of recent years are better than like 95% of modern rock out there, maybe more.  And yet they don't really hold a candle to old PJ.

His music doesn't. Has their even been a bigger drop off from absolute brilliant music (Ten, Vs) to utter crap (IE their last few albums, yes including the new one)?

Whenever a band bashes Bush they get free publicity and Rollingstone covers. Pearl Jam's album sucked ass. I'm liberal and everything, but that shit pisses me off

It was advertised as an extremely political album. What I've heard is not as political as Rolling Stone would have us believe.
