Title: How do I use skills in Star Ocean?

So, I have all these skills: Customization, Authoring and Smithing. How the fuck do I use them? I have all the reagents, but I can't figure out HOW to initiate them.

Someone fucking helpme.

I have a 10 in Writing, so I have the Authoring skill. I have research pens and skills in other things. Now what?

Make sure you check your party members' specific talents before engaging in item creation... Have you read Ian Kelley's FAQ on the skills/IC systems? It's a great read, although you can find several ways to break the game using this system :P
