Not a big fan, but still, bummer.

FANBOY SUICIDES IMMINENT

comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.rpg collectively finds no reason to live now that nynaeve will never tug her braid in frustration at men and rand/mat/perrin/<insert interchangable male lead here> will never mutter about not understanding women again

I predict the stories will be finished by someone else based on whatever notes he left behind, and for decades there will be obscure nerd fights over whether the last books are canonical.

I think that was God's punishment for Jordan trying to milk that series dry.

he knew for about the past year that his days were numbered--this was an identified, incurable heart disease that took him out. he left lots of notes, outlines, and recordings in preparation for someone else to finish the work in case he couldn't.

still, yes, canon wars await. pity.

I didn't like his writing much but I guess it's good he helped subsidize a lot of authors I did like at Tor. :) He was also like best friends with John M. Ford, one of my favorite authors, so maybe he was a good guy.

Frank Herbert's kid is probably not very busy right now.  They should give him a call.

Anyway, tonight Terrible Genre Fiction Hell has a new man of the hour!  Kiss Heinlen for me, Robert!

The Wheel of Time FPS that Legend Entertainment did had some of the best single-player level design and scripting work of its day. I should go back and play it-fanwankery aside, it was a really solid game.

that and Undying are both really underrated. I guess you really do need to either have space marines or WWII to get noticed!

I liked Undying, but I remember it losing steam somewhere throughout the game.  I don't recall specifics, but I remember there just being a severe downgrade of the game's quality, as if it were rushed or not finished.

<3 Clive Barker.

it broke down after you left the house and went to the eternal autumn areas, which were unscary. all the bits in the house and oneiros were awesome, though. also, gimpiest last boss ever!
