Title: why do people still believe in 'megatons'?
Post by: Mupepe on September 19, 2007, 10:17:45 AM
seriously.  all the 'megatons' at shows always turn out to be crap.  history has shown that you won't expect the real ones.  and more than likely, they will be low key press releases as opposed to huge announcements.  i hate people.

In this dark and depressing world that we inhabit, megatons give us hope, megatons give us a reason to get up each and every morning, megatons give us a reason to live.

Honestly, I'm not sure why.

Even Spider-Man needs a megaton now and then.

Thank god that they still do otherwise GAF right now wouldn't be quite so hilarious.  It's like watching a dying star collapsing into itself tonight.

I've made fun before about how all PS3 gamers seem to do is watch videos and talk about announcements.  However, it still surprises me to see the PS3 TGS thread reach 43 pgs at GAF before Sony has even given its presentation.

does it surprise you more than the multiple 200+ page Halo 3 threads that consist of the same 6 people trying their hardest to artifically create hype? the masturbatory hyperbole almost makes me not want to buy the game.

^weird edit.

the solution is to not read GAF.  I read OA and I play actual games.

OA bores me and I can't play games at work.

Well it's more of a community.  Oddly, people are less fanboyish there.  I've been there too long to get used to something as much of a clusterfuck as GAF.

OA is LESS FANBOYISH??

They aren't system fanboys.  Being part of OA makes you automatically against GAF (which isn't hard) and therefore relieves some of the tension in the fact that another poster likes a different system that you're mommy didn't stand in line to buy for you.

I agree. OA IS lesss fanboyish. there is no reason to be a fanboy when every poster who supports the competing camp is conviently banned - there is no conflict, just unabashed praise and undisputed criticism.

Well they don't ban.  There are a few joke characters and they make some fun.

jesus you goat-fiddler, I'm saying they act like fanboys for fun.  I never see 50 page fanbot JO threads and I don't see wollan there so I say it's less fanboyish.

right. hans, wobe, mattxg, and opa act like fanboys for fun. you could make the same inane argument for gaf. gaf gets 50x the fanboys because it has 500x the viewership. jesus!

dude, OPA was fucked up waaaaaay before he was on any forums.  Mattxg isn't a big problem these days.  hans isn't an OAer and Wobe is fair.  Don't see the problem with Wobe.  He could grow a beard since he was 10.  Jealous?

Opa-Ages is the bitch-ass version of 4chan. Opa-Ages is nothing short of the whiniest dregs of the internet, never producing anything of worth. At least something funny comes out of 4chan every once in a while.

OA is ridiculously fanboyish.  however, i tend to find the biggest "fanboys" there tend to be most levelheaded.  The Dude is in love with Sony but will still honestly review 360 titles etc.

however, some of the "USW's" there (hans), tend to say they're unbiased but are so blatant it's ridiculous.
