Title: What should my baptismal bluray be?
Post by: TVC15 on September 21, 2007, 09:31:44 PM
Tonight is a special occasion.  And I'm buying.  What should the first blurary I play on the new TV be?

Also, either tonight or tomorrow (probably tomorrow), I will be starting a new Evilbore SPECIAL EVENT.  Not exactly tied to the new TV, instead something nice for everyone.

I assume you want something that would show off your TV's capabilities?  The Pirates movies are crap, as I'm sure you know,  but they've gotten rave reviews for their picture quality.  Casino Royale's PQ is also not bad.

I can't wait  :-*

What are the bluray choices?  Or are you going to go buy it now?

What's your player?

I'm using the PS3.  I'm going to run down to my fairly decent video store tonight to pick up something.  I don't like giving myself excuses to feed my already voracious DVD habit (although I might have to slow down for a bit to strategize what my purchase policy will be now), but tonight is a celebration of GIANT SEX TV!

This website is good for technical information on Blu-ray and Hd-dvd movies.  They review the films too but you probably don't need them to tell you what's good or not.

Well, I'm jealous  :-*

I think I'm going to watch Superman Returns tonight for the first time, I dvr'ed the HDNet version.

HD Movies from my cable company look so good, and I heard that bluray/hddvd shame them.

I'm curious to see what dvds will look like in my new 360 soon, but it will be awhile before I have a PS3, if ever.  And I haven't read good things about the hddvd add-on, so it will likely be awhile before I see true HD movies on my set.

?  the hd dvd add on is pretty awesome and is pretty much up to par with most of the hd dvd players on the market already.

That's cool, perhaps I've been fed misinformation.

Regardless, I'm still not ready to choose between the two sides.

I don't need the hddvd add-on to upscale my dvds I hope?  :'(

I agree with that.  Especially if you have a HDMI 360.  High five, Mupes!

It also works with a PC which doubles its value.  I watch Hd-Dvds on my 24" monitor sometimes while messing around on the net.

I forgot you can hook it up to a PC.

It's too bad it's not a burner.  Single sided dvds are so small anymore.  It takes me a whole freaking weekend to clean off and back up my pc.

Holy shit I didn't know you could use it with your PC too! I'm doing that soon (even though they'd look meh on my 15" monitor while they look omg awesome on my 42" TV)!
