i played the amiga PORT of that game, which was even worse -- it would crash in the overhead turtle van bits at random. i can't believe i have nostalgia for that experience! ah, kids
-
Even as a child who could barely talk, I knew that game sucked. TMNT2, on the other hand, was so awesome.
-
That pretty much should have been the end of the game, I could never get passed it :lol
-
same here
-
Add me to that pile
-
I got past it, but I never got past the next part where you drive the Turtle van around. I watched a speed run once and I can't believe how much more there is to the game. It makes me sick.

Speed Run!
I've seen my cousin get past that part (and to the Van part). But heres a youtube vid of a speedrun! I'm interested in seeing what else is there in the game.

I use to be able to beat NES ninja turtles without continuing once.
I love the final fight and the "whatever that rolling tank with a drillbit on the end of it base was called" stage.
You just had to remember what turtle does the most damage in any given situation.
The swimming part to disarm the dam bombs isnt that hard.
-
I never got past that shit. And it used to drive me batshit because I KNEW that driving the fucked up Turtlevan would be distinguished mentally-challenged fellow AWESOME.

I think my subconscious associates this TMNT game with watching Police Academy. And now I want to watch Police Academy.
-
I remember that the only real purpose of the turtlevan was to use its missiles to blow up foot clan barricades so you could progress on the overhead stages....
you had to pick up the missiles for the turtle van in the side scrolling stages....
When I had a Wii I had downloaded this on VC, but didnt ge ta chance to replay thru it.

police academy (the first, and only the first movie) is still surprisingly amusing.
-
I had this game on the PC and I had to play it with a PC joystick which makes the game even more frustrating than the NES version. :'( Too bad I was too young to know that licensed games almost always sucked.
-
I probably couldn't even beat that game now, let alone when I was a kid. :lol

Not for TMNT! TMNT II and TMNT IV (turtles in time) were both, and still today are damn good games.
-
I never had too much trouble with the dam stage, even though it was so freaking annoying... it was the next level, the ridiculous maze-like city, that always stumped me... I passed that a few times to make it to the 4th stage, but that's the furthest I've ever gotten. Didn't know anybody who beat this game, either.

The NES port of the TMNT arcade game was such shit. Looked damn fugly!

All the turtles games are awesome, except the first one. I hope they bring Turtles in Time to XBLA, after the success of the original.
