I can almost hear the keyboards over at GAF right now clicking away as they type out their newest conspiracy theory about this one.  Tinfoil hat brigade is on their way.

I know, but that doesn't come out until December.

It's not.  :(  Sorry Japan, you'll just have to believe Sega's bullshit.

Are you sure??  How do you know?  :o  The other Sega games like Condemned and Virtua Tennis 3 were region free.

No, I'm just saying the lag (especially since it's VF5) would be a lot since he can't play it with that many people in japan until december.

It will be the same servers, so it doesn't matter.  It's not like you're restricted to one region on Xbox Live.  That kind of crap is just on PS3 and Wii.

The only thing I'm wondering is if the Japanese version will get even more content, but I doubt it BECAUSE of the online play.  They'd have to release a patch for the American version too.

well yeah but I'd be worried that not enough people would really import it in japan.  but I guess my point only makes sense if there was some sort of ranking system in this game which is doubtful.  It might have leaderboards but that's it.

You seem to be missing the point.  It's going to be the exact same game in Japan as it will be in the U.S.  There's not going to be any difference...you can play with anyone from all over the world, and once the game hits Japan, there will be a lot more J-players on.  It is not restricted in any way.  This goes for ALL 360 games.  ALL of them...even XBLA titles.

my point would have made sense if there was only ranked game since for two months there would be a small japanese online community.

The freaks who will be at the top will be there from day one, regardless of what country the game is released in first.  ;)

yeah, I would wonder if that means they always play local games with friends or know how to play w/lag.  I have no idea how fighters play online so don't listen to me.
