Title: Seiken Densetsu 3?
Post by: Candyflip on September 23, 2007, 06:18:59 PM
I downloaded a rom with the English translation about a year ago planning on playing it and then never did. The other day I found myself replaying Secret of Mana and then remembered Seiken Densetsu 3. Did anyone here actually play it through? What did you think of it? I've never sat down and played it for more than a couple hours, but I like the idea of multiple story lines. The combat seems a bit more smooth, too.

I did like Mana better than Evermore, but only because of the larger party and scenery.

How does it replay? If I beat it once with one assortment of party members, will I feel like I want to play it again? I have no clue how the stories converge or anything.

I'm intrigued. I'll give it a run.

I remember hating Secret of Evermore, but I was like 12 at the time. I anted SoM2 and I got. I don't even remember what I got. Tribalism and B Movie magic. But I may have been too young to "get it". I'll add it to my To-Do list

I loved it at the time, but I think that was maybe because of the "leetness" factor of owning an import SNES title in the halcyon days of the Internet before ROMs and shit, and because the graphics were fucking killer. The problems with it are that it's a bit too hack-slashy, some of the boss fights drag on forever and ever, the plot takes a nosedive halfway through the game, but it's not a bad game. It definitely feels a lot more solid, and has a lot less glitches, than SOM, even if the dungeon design isn't nearly as interesting and there are no real puzzles to speak of.

Eh. I started out loving it but it eventually became very formulaic and easy. The dungeons lack any real challenge, and the combat is admittedly monotonous. I think I'm about half way through it. I still want to finish, I just don't enjoy it as much as I was. The novelty of the game as a whole kinda wore off.

The music isn't as good either.

Compared to it's predecessor you're right. It's alright though.

The graphics are amazing for 16bit, though. One redeeming factor that has yet to really go dull.
