It's absolutely disgusting. Are all PS2 games this horrendously jaggy at 480p? I thought this game was supposed to be gorgeous?
It also doesn't do a good job explaining the game. I thought I had a general idea after playing the shitfest the original was, but they completely rehauled it. It's making me uneasy about continuing. Should I be concerned with leveling up people to "free" them? I noticed Dylan doesn't have a "Free Level" compared to the other einherjar.
Why are save spots so far between? It's just the very first dungeon, wtf.
The camera is ass in battle. I don't think I like the whole real-time free movement in battle. I don't like the idea of splitting my team up.
This whole "link" thing seems very confusing.
I just beat that first boss, I think. The Guardian Beast thing.

ANOTHER GREAT GAME FROM SQUARE ENIX
-
Its the shimmering, and the fault lies squarely on the PS2 for that.
VP2 is a fantastic game, but im sure you'll find a way to spin it ;-)
-
I think it looks good...for a PS2 game! ;_;
-
It has some crazy 1080i mode too
-
change the camera in the options on the menu screen (not from in-game). also, splitting up your party is almost NEVER necessary. people have beat the game without ever splitting their party up once.
-
get a ps3 for BC demi. it'll look much better upscaled on your aquos. i couldn't stand to play any PS2 games on my aquos until i got the ps3.
-
You need to split your party up for the final boss tho, trust me. that was a pretty evil fight.
-
Can you defend from enemy attacks, or am I forced to take my beating when they gang up on me?
AND WHY DOES IT TAKE FOREVER TO LEVEL UP
-
Cause you are weak from friendly and easy Blue Dragon. Man up.

I ain't spending $600 to smooth out an ugly looking game. I'm better off just playing on composite. Besides, it will probably be hard to find one with the EE still in it.
It has some crazy 1080i mode too
Does it? I will google it and see if I can find anything

The shimmering is the only ugly part about VP2, and again, thats ol Sony Hardware
-
It is better than the shitfest original.
* No distinguished mentally-challenged "time limit" thing
* No distinguished mentally-challenged "TO MY SIDE, MY EINHERJAR" - EVERY - SINGLE - BATTLE
* HOPEFULLY (please confirm) no distinguished mentally-challenged shit I have to do for special A ending that's completely unfulfilling and actually made me hate the game more than I already did
I'll stick with it, it's just they don't really do a good job getting me eased into the battle system.
Should I be checking each weapon I find on the ground for a new einherjar?
-
No special ending really. I know you do get a slightly different ending depending on how you fight the last boss, but its more of a fanservice thing. Not like booby fanservice, but REAL fanservice type nod to a certain character. Again not a huge deal.
Ein are provided randomly when you find an item, for example in my play through I found like 3 archer Einherjar which is fine cause archers > mages when it comes to combo counter. Lemme find my old threads, lots of info there.

These have minor spoilers, mostly give tips on sphere system and where to level up:

Also dont look at the Brady's strategy guide. They made up spells that arent even in the game till kill a boss lol.

I got to the strategy guide section and is like 'use weakness on this boss to prevent its healing' and I ran through all my dudes looking for a weakness spell and im like wtf I dont see it. This boss fight is pretty late in the game mind you. ANYWAY I ended up figuring out that there's a 'reduce healing 100%' sphere you can inflict on the area to keep them from healing instead :p
Who knows, maybe there IS a weakness spell tucked away in the game, but I sure as hell didnt have it
