Post by: MrAngryFace on September 26, 2007, 06:04:26 PM
He said the Slayers OVAs took place after the TV series. COME ON GUY. Only one of them did!

The Slayers = 10/10 "a milestone achievement for magical comedy anime", Play Magazine.

Nah he gave it an 8 out of 10 cuz it looks old...CUz IT IS OLD DAVE. I dont think he even watched it before reviewing it tho, cause the funimation release has a bizzare issue with the Op/Ed in Dub where the transfer is horrible, but the actual episode is fine. Other than that its nice not having a 4 DVD jewel case set and instead a small slim set. Slayers Next in November, Lost Universe in December omg omg.

Dave Halverson is the guy who pretty much IS Play magazine. Slayers is an old anime, and my favorite anime.

This?

Looks "old" but how is that a complaint. Lots of the best cartoons are "old" looking but that doesn't take away from the quality. It's not like it's "old and ugly" which is way more of an issue.

MAF JUSTIFIED

Actually thats from the OVA, and to be FAIR, Dave might have ment they were PRODUCED Post-TV Series, but that wasnt made clear in his blurb. You can tell by her shoulder armor which its from.

Still! Old or NO ITS PERFECTLY GOOD ANIME!

Yeah, and all the pilots are athletes or martial artists representing their native country/space colony.  It's totally awesome.  The way to win matches was to destroy the rival Gundam's head.

Haha, well to his credit, billy, there arent any hentai ads in Play anymore.

There's a fucking NAPOLEON GUNDAM!  That alone makes it awesome.

I have never seen Lost Universe.  By the same dodes who did Slayers?

Did you guys hear Geneon (Tenchi Muyo, Paranoia Agent, Haibane Renmei, etc.) shut down operations?  Looks like all their unfinished anime shows are going to remain unfinished unless another company picks them up.  If there are any Geneon shows you guys want, I recommend picking them up before they go OOP.

I need to get the last two volumes of Ergo Proxy, and I'm interested in Black Lagoon (1st season was fully released) and Zipang!. I was holding out on a cheap Zipang! boxset, but that won't be happening now...

I almost never buy Geneon stuff because even the box sets (which should be cheaper than the individual discs) seem overpriced.  :-\

I want to get Haibane Renmei and Paranoia Agent and El-Hazard TV, but I don't know that I want to spend all that money on these shows...I also never saw the second season of Ai Yori Aoshi but I dunno if it's worth it to buy it, I didn't like it THAT much.

I was thinking about getting rid of X and Chobits... I wonder if they'll jump in price if I hang on to them longer...

I have Chobits as well.  Chobits manga is a lot better than the animu.

Seriously, though, it may not be that bad but it's several levels lower than Slayers. The best thing about it is the awesome Slayers-like art style.

Not sure about the whole studio, but it's by the same art director, at least.

Holy shit, when did this happen? Geneon/Pioneer brought some awesome anime overseas, sucks to see this occur. :(

Same people, it takes place in the same multiverse. iirc Slayers takes place in the Red World and Lost Universe takes place in the Black World where the gods of the Red World are manifested physically through the Lost Ships which are really high tech sentient starships.

I have Chobits as well.  Chobits manga is a lot better than the animu.

99% of manga are always better than their anime adaptions.  Missing plot, characters, and story do not always make for the best viewing pleasure.
