I liked in FF8 how after your counter passed 99:59:59 it would start over from 00:00:00, and after 99:59:59 came 00:00:00.  (Did anyone ever make it past 99:59:59?)

ummm no. I got my counter to turn red for 3 hours and that was in my mega-game where I did all the side quests, got every item, collected every card and beat omega weapon. Took 103 hours to do that, how the fuck did you squeeze out another 100?

by playing it in Japanese and stopping every 10 seconds to look up words, also by leaving the game on while I did other stuff

but I totally flipped when I saw those red numbers.  it probably brought me more joy than any other gaming-related experience in '99-'00.  probably because it brought back memories of being 4 years old and hitting CTRL-3 on our Commodore 64.

I just read Prole's thread over on GAF. I dunno why you did that, it obviously wasn't worth your time. All their replies are boring and textbook.

And lol @ one user confusing you with me. I'm sure that happens often.

This recent upsurge in BD lurve is making me want to go back and check out the new difficulty levels (I played on the default mode on the J release, whatever that was). I enjoyed the battle/job system but just didn't need to use it much. Does that change much on the new modes? And is 'New game +' challenging at all? (i.e. do you fight tough monsters all the way through, or do you just mince the regular ones with your uber-characters?)

(i agree almost totally with Prole's gaf rant btw. well said.)

New Game+ is just your uber-characters on a difficulty (I think you can do New Game+ on Hard), so if you are trying the harder difficulties, it is recommended you just start from scratch.

ultra hard mode in a JRPG makes me interested in getting a 360 for this game!

Probably wait until next year, PC is an embarassment of riches right now. Still sounds awesome though.
