http://ve3d.ign.com/videos/16702/PlayStation-Portable/Warhammer-40-000-Squad-Commander

turn-based warhammer 40k squad game. apparently the devs were huge fans of chaos gate, which was a great 40k x-com ripoff. looks really good so far.

it's also apparently on the ds, but, y'know, as maf says in punctuation: lol.

One of my buddies loves the Warhammer tabletop games but I've never played one of the video games based on the franchise (original or 40k).

X-Com was the first PSX game I bought, though...so that makes me interested in this.

I don't play PC games at all...I can count the PC games I've owned in one hand (two if you count Mac games).

Growing up in my household, we never had a PC...in 1992 or '93, my mom finally decided she was getting a computer.  As one of my friends was a PC gaming fiend, I spent the next few months getting recommendations from him on what games I should get, what stuff I should borrow from him, etc., etc.  Then my mom hit me with the bombshell.

She was getting a Mac.

I didn't end up getting a (pretty low-end) PC until 1997, and I never got into PC gaming.  My PC was always on the low end of the minimum requirements for PC games, and I borrowed some stuff from my aforementioned buddy; a lot of it would not work right or would crash my shitty computer.  That was it for me and PCs, and I've never really gone back.

The only PC games I've devoted serious time to:
1. The Third Eye (adventure game based on Poe's short stories).
2. WarCraft.
3. Heroes of Might & Magic (I forget which installment...3 or 4, maybe).
4. Doom.

I also tried repeatedly to get into MMORPGs but hated all of them: Ultima Online, EverQuest, and Final Fantasy XI.

In Mac gaming, I was a bit more fortunate.  I played:
1. An Indiana Jones adventure game (I forget the name).
2. Populous.
3. Sam & Max Hit The Road.
4. Star Trek (an adventure game by Interplay - it was pretty awesome).
5. Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle.
6. Star Wars: Dark Forces (FPS with the Star Wars license).
7. Marathon.

Other than that, I've been purely a console gamer.  I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of...I just consider PC gaming to be too much of a hassle, and I have a hard time playing games on the computer, which I generally associate with work (or Internet use). :shrug

In my house, we had an Apple computer from day one.  Got our first computer in 1986: An Apple IIgs.  It had plenty of awesome titles and the 80s and early 90s (on a Mac) is when I played my favorite PC titles....stuff like Prince Of Persia, Silpheed, Thexder, Monkey Island 1 and 2, etc.

I didn't actually get a PC of my own until 2004...the Alienware laptop that I'm using now.  I wanted to try out PC gaming, and found that overall I really don't care for it.  Consoles are pretty much all I need; the most PC gaming I've done has been through emulators of console and arcade games.

Also the whole "Mac has no games" thing had to be the dumbest statement I ever heard from PC nerdos.  It's always had games...just not necessarily the same ones that are on PC is all.  I never really cared and used to tell me friends I didn't give two shits...I was off to play Street Fighter.  A game that was only good in arcades and on consoles.  Not those shitty ass PC ports.

so many gaming nubs in this thread. if you are not an experienced pc gamer, you are a nub, because proper gaming begins and ends with the pc

When I was younger my dad had both Dooms, Tie Fighter, and Dark Forces installed a long time ago.  I'm still a PC newbie, but I enjoyed what I had.

Don't hate.

IMO, proper gaming begins and ends with the arcade, anyway.  :-*

And luckily my PSP is hacked, so I don't have to deal with the best new feature:  NEW LOAD TIMES!

Also, Mega Man Powered Up is about 10x better than Maverick Hunter.

But there is no Vile or Sigma, thus what you claim is a lie.

actually to be honest, i didn't play MMPU due to the chibi looking art, not to mention the X series introduced me to the MM games, so i like X more.

Maverick Hunter is definitely good, but there's a lot more content in Powered Up.  Two versions of the game (including the classic music), and an awesome level maker, with lots of user made levels available for DL via infrastructure.

Both are good games, but Powered Up is a much much much better value.

Hmmmm....i might buy it and see for myself.

It's fucking depressing Inafune decided not to continue what he started (no MMPU2/MHX2) and now he ain't gonna make another Dead Rising.

I think the fucker lost it, all he cares about is money now... :(
