With all the hype up coming with 2 more consoles releasing you can't help but get excited even just a tad bit. So I ask all 20 of you...where do you stand in this race?
PS3:
HD Gaming
Insane Graphics
Blue Ray Player
*Apparently a pack in movie as well
Xbox 360
Good Graphics
HD Gaming
HD-DVD add on
Wii
um...controller?
Wii Sports.
-
PS3: overpriced crap with a shitty launch lineup
360: I pray to Odin daily that it doesn't overheat and die
Wii: seriously WTF
PS2: still where it's at, gayboys -- $129 for Wii graphics, PS3 online gaming, Xbox 360 reliability and all the games!
-
NONE
-
PS3: overpriced crap with a shitty launch lineup
360: Decent enough, I guess...
Wii: seriously WTF
Fixed. ;)
-
I've decided not to buy a PS3 or a Wii, as both have shitty launch titles (other then zelda)
-
I would rather buy a DS again
-
I will get a Wii at launch.
I have a 360 but don't play it and I'm pretty sure it's breaking (for the second time). I just turned it on and everything that is supposed to be black has a blue glow around it.
-
I want a Wii to satisfy my gay gaming needs. I will get a 360 sooner or later - there's nothing out now that appeals to me but once Culdcept Online comes out, I will have one!
I could give a fuck about a Playstation.
-
I have xbox360, which I very very rarely touch, maybe once or twice a month, and I do plan on buying a Wii right when it comes out.
As for the PS3 I don't even know the launch date, but I'm assuming it will be incredibly immersive. I would rather they just make the regular old basic playstation controller though instead of this new banana thing.
I'm gonna get all 3 systems, but might wait on a ps3 cause damn.. it is pretty expensive ;(
-
PS3 - Somewhat interested, but not worth $600 to me to play Resistance. Don't give even one little shit about Blu-Rayz. Don't care for Japanese Rpgs, so those exclusives don't mean shit to me either. Will buy at $300, when a decent library and "Greatest Hits" are available. Plus, I expect it to have at least as many hardware problems as 360 for the first few months.
360 - Already own it, and will probably buy most 3rd party multiplatform games for it. I doubt I personally will ever notice a graphical difference in 360 and PS3 games, as I'm not a giant cringe-inducing nerd viewing the games through any particular corporation's filter. Has problems - my first 360 shit itself dead in July, and I had to invoke the Best Buy replacement plan, which pissed me off so soon into the lifespan. The new unit won't recognize my PAID FOR marketplace content unless I am connected online, so Marketplace and microtransactions can suck my dick.
Wii - Never owned a SNES, N64, or Gamecube, so it would be nice to go back and catch up on all that stuff I missed through the downloads and cheap used GC games. No mandatory widescreen and a certainly gimped online lessen my enthusiasm. Will wait for a spring price drop, and Mario Galaxy.
-
Um, Prost the banana thing isn't final. Look up the latest info.
-
The PS3 controller is a wireless DS2 with some crappy waggle support added. The bananarang is long dead, although I'd rather have that ghastly abomination than fuckin' third-rate waggle support.
-
I'm pro everything except Wii. I can't abide 6 year old hardware being sold for more than twice what it's worth, and I can't support the business model it represents, which would lock us into having no real hardware advancement with console generational changes, in order to pad Nintendo's profits.
As bad as GT:HD microtransaction rape or PS3 shoving BRD down our throats, it's a fucking bargain compared to the technological stagnation of the Wii and the bottom line penny pinching that caused it.
-
Um, Prost the banana thing isn't final. Look up the latest info.
Oh, well whatever will be final, I hope it's the original PS/PS2 controller, that thing works great.

It is, just without rumble but with waggletech. It also has some modification to the L2/R2 buttons to make them more like triggers (but they're still not triggers).
-
Ok does anyone have a picture of this thing?

good enough for me! sounds like a good system, just needs to be a bit cheaper. I'm assuming it will be the strongest system, which is good news! Or I might just buy a nice new WHOOP ASS PC and put it together, dunno =)

PS3 seems to have the hardware crown but it's looking really close, much closer than PS2 and Xbox were.
-
xbox was a little more powerful than PS2 right?
Oh and I've heard Riddick on xbox1 is still better than anything the 360 has yet to have shown, is that true? Graphics-wise I mean.
-
Ps3: Faulty hardware and crap tatics, sorry sony, all done with you
XB360: great tech, need more software, good bang for the buck.
Wii: Will dominate. Haters are out in force (oMFG waggle/gc/I'm a cheap prick etc etc etc) which means they are scared that it just might change gaming and they will have no place to cry.
DS: Continues to rock.
PSP: um what.

With all due respect, how can you label the PS3 as faulty hardware when nobody here has touched it, and the xbox360 has had a very large amount of people complaining about their 360 busting? Yet you say the 360 is a good buy? Do you feel the PS3 truly will have hardware that is even more faulty than the 360 hardware? Or are you simply saying all of this because you're one of the dudes from OA who just likes to bash on 2 systems while loving 1?

I went thru 2 psx and 4 ps2's I was not speaking about ps3 just the fact that sony's hardware is not known for being the best made.
After the inital batch of 360's they have been fairly solid, when mine crap's out belive me I'll rant.
OA' is full of moron's that argue x vs. s and gang up on N because they feel like they need a common foe.

With all due respect, you haven't touched it either

Completely false

Well I'm not making any assumptions about it like accusing it of having faulty hardware.

Like I said , based of the past two consoles, and issues with VAIO laptops I have had to fix and psp's I have a pretty good hold on sony's hardware, not to mention dvd burners (2) that crapped out on me
Also, do some ressearch on the fialure rate when they started producing the cell, it all comes together pretty quick, and let's not forget the diode issue with the blu-ray drives.
But again, draw your own conclusion.

It a launch system from Sony.
-
The PSP has had failures? I haven't heard of any hardware issues with it.

You obviously care a lot, I'm sorry for doubting your opinion.

Dead pixels, square button getting stuck, flying UMDs?
-
You obviously care a lot, I'm sorry for doubting your opinion.
I dont care, I just read alot of tech crap, part of what I'm into, and I'm just not taking the $600 leap.
Wii60 will have more than enough to satisfy both the gfx whore and the fun factor for me.
-
I've seen more dead Gamecubes than PSPs, and more dead pixels on DS Lites.
-
GameCube's? Liar. DS Lites? Probably. I had to go through three.
-
after compiling a list of all the next-gen games that interested me and withdrawing the exclusives, I've found that the amount of these that are on PS3 are in a ratio of 4 versus 1 compared to those on Xbox 360
considering just how much stuff oughts to be bound on both PS3 and Xbox 360 I'd still be satisfied with just an Xbox 360, but to me on all points the PS3 seems on a whole other level... the fucking unbearably noisy DVD-ROM drive is the nails on the former's coffin-- so had I to take just one it'd be the PS3 all the way
and I'll get Wii because I'm bored, eh... and yah for a while PS2 is still where it's at
-
PS3: I chose PS2 over Xbox as my second console last gen, but this gen Sony might lose my money to MS. DMC4 is the only thing I can think of that looks interesting, but I wonder if it will feel fresh enough. I don't even know what the PS3 launch lineup is. The price is way too high and the controller... FOR FUCKS SAKE PUT THE ANALOG STICK IN THE RIGHT PLACE! Sony is not a damned game company. They prove it everytime they talk about 3d visuals, then toss out a 2d controller. Why is the dpad still in the prime position? What PS3 game is seriously going to use the dpad over the analog stick? I don't think you'll be seeing 2d games on the PS3. Three generations, still the stick is in the wrong place and it's only because people are too pussy to really bitch about it. How is Sony going to win it's FPS war with Microsoft with that controller? It's the worst setup for FPS games. Oy.
360: I have no love for Microsoft, their 13 year old mentality, their business ways or their advertising. What I do like is the looks of Lost Planet, Bioshock, Viva Pinata and a possible Jeff Minter XBLA game.
Wii: Nintendo games don't let me down, but that price does. I'll get a Wii, but not at launch.
-
Personally, I'm getting all three eventually because I'm a multiconsole gamer, but if I was to pick a console I'd get first, or which one appeals to me the most it'd be the Xbox 360. With an 360 I don't think I'd need a Wii or PS3 for a long while.
My reasons:
1. The most varied console, that has big guns across practically every genre.
2. Xbox Live and emphasis on online content.
3. Xbox Live Arcade
4. Xbox Live Marketplace and downloadable new content
5. Most of the software are new IP's, and interesting ones at that.
6. Good balance between Japanese and Western support.

...And many more.
Not to mention downloadable content for Guitar Hero 2 (which also includes xbox live play and co-op), GTAIV on the same day as PS3 (AND with 2 add on packs exclusive for 360), Assasin's Creed, and other mutliconsole games. Once X360 has more Xbox games on backwards compatibility list, we'll have even more to play, including tons of arcade style games, and online fighters. Street Fighter Anniversary Collection please.
I'm honestly shocked how well MS is doing with this new console in terms of games and support. I envisioned me being way more excited for ps3 than 360, especially because some of my favorite franchises will reappear on ps3, but it seems I want more than a return of my favorite series'.
-
Where do I stand?
Xbox 360- I have one, I love it, but I need more games, so many upcoming 2007 goodies, so far away. Hopefully Gears Of War keeps me happy, because god knows I need a new game to play on Xbox Live.
PS3- I've decided not to get one yet, although I have the money, I want to wait and see how this console does before I spend 600$ on it. Nothing on the launch list tickes my fancy, really. I'll stick with my PS2 and Final Fantasy 12 for a while.
Nintendo Wii- Looks way too gimmicky for my tastes. (Lord knows I love my DS though, so I may be wrong) The only game that calls to me is Super Smash Bros: Brawl, and I will probably pick one up when that comes out.
-
PSP and DS lol. Fuck consoles.
-
I will wait until Nighty Nine Nights to decide where I stand.
-
N3 sux, turn back
-
N3 sux, turn back
eh
-
None of them. They are all at least $100 too expensive .. so fuck em right now.
-
Ps3. too expensive just now, maybe in 5 years.
x360. later this year.
wii. Not just now, I'm waiting to see how it goes down.
-
Xbox 360 - Own it and love it.
Wii - Day one for Mario, Zelda, & Smash Bros. games
PS3 - Too expensive, no games I want, I HATE their marketing aim for it(Fuck Blu-Ray!) so yeah no PS3.
-
I will wait until Nighty Nine Nights to decide where I stand.
It's pretty good so far. Still on the girl's missions. I figured out it's a dumb game that feels good which is exactly what I wanted. Gets way too much hate.
Thank you Mr. Erickson!
-
Like the pokemons I have to collect them all :D
I hope the Wii will be different enough to get a few girls interested in it, they just don't seem to get the X360 :-\
-
PS3:
+Free online gaming
+Blu Ray offers more storage space to developers
-Software does not currently justify $600 price
-Lack of "must get" titles at launch
-No VGA support
Xbox 360:
+Xbox Live
+Xbox Live Arcade
+Great software lineup
+VGA support
+Nice price, with pricedrop imminent
+GEARS OF FUCKING WAR
-Can't play Zelda
Wii:
+Interesting controller
+Solid 2007 software lineup
+ZELDA
-Lack of interesting software
-No VGA support
-No online details
-Overrated Wiimote controls
-Poor launch lineup
-Lack of third party support
Needless to say, I'm getting an Xbox 360. I want Zelda, but I can play it on the Gamecube
