Jesus Christ this arc fucking RULES. It's like Oda has been wanting to do this arc since the beginning of the series. You can tell because of how awesome and lively it is.

I thought that after Water 7/Enies Lobby, Oda would follow up and make the next arc more serious, but it's actually probably the most hilarious part of the story so far (imo).

The manga, at least it used to, have better art. It's got more blood too. The anime feels like a more kiddy version of the manga. It was stupid when Shanks got his arm bitten off and there was no blood like there is in the manga. It feels a tad edited.
That said, I love the anime to pieces. I own the HKs (eps 1-120) and watched all of that in 2 weeks, have had (and watched) 180 eps of the Kaizoku fansubs on my hd, and plan on buying the uncut dvds when they are released by funi.

PREDICTION: The reason Bear came to Moria's place was to announce a new Shichibukai. That will be Luffy. Either that or it's related to Ace vs Blackbeard.

The manga, at least it used to, have better art. It's got more blood too. The anime feels like a more kiddy version of the manga. It was stupid when Shanks got his arm bitten off and there was no blood like there is in the manga. It feels a tad edited.
That said, I love the anime to pieces. I own the HKs (eps 1-120) and watched all of that in 2 weeks, have had (and watched) 180 eps of the Kaizoku fansubs on my hd, and plan on buying the uncut dvds when they are released by funi.
I watched episodes 1-324 in 30 days (the month of September). I skipped the filler arcs and most of the filler episodes though, so that would be like 250+ episodes. It was great, but I don't think I'll ever do anything that crazy again. Luckily for me, I had no exams during that time. :lol

The manga was too, goofy and kiddy even for me. I thought even Naruto was more serious. That said, I like Naruto because the author doesn't hesitate to make periodic "Dark" twists and turns and makes heavy use of mythology and lore.

Kuma showing up is probably just to let Luffy know that Ace got fuck pwned by Blackbeard and to send the Mugiwara crew after Blackbeard, hoping to cancel the World Government's two biggest problems out in one shot. He might also be there to put an end to Moria himself, who has clearly violated the rules of Shichibukai-dom. I'm pretty sure he's not gonna offer Luffy a Shichibukai position, not after Luffy totally trashed Enies Lobby.
BTW, has Oda confirmed that Lucci is dead? If so, he'll be the second villain to actually DIE, after Arlong. L O L
Vagabond, One Piece has some pretty dark bits. Robin's backstory is probably darker than every dark moment in Naruto combined.

I'm pretty sure he won't do much at Moria's place though. He doesn't seem like he'll end up helping Moria that's for sure.

I bet Ace got fuck owned and got captured by Moria to lure the Mugiwara's out, and he's there now to report this to Moria, as well as tell him he has lost his place in the Shichibukai. he seems to have broken the rules like you said. Luffy will own Moria, Bear will see this and report this, Mugiwara's bounty will increase exponentially (probably), and they will fight Blackbeard who is waiting for them at Mermanland.

we all have our quirks. one piece the manga has pirates, great visual variety, a hilariously off-kilter world, and pirates. in the end, it's pirate take on the x-men that keeps me reading.

folks on the arlongpark.net forums said oda confirmed it in a fan panel -- robin broke his neck and killed him, which follows that villains who commit personal atrocities get the axe in the one piece universe. i wasn't clear if he said lucci is also dead as well, though, although given that half an issue was dedicated to lucci's murderous past and the emphasis that he was pretty much a slaughter-happy psychopath, i wouldn't be surprised if he's #3 in the bad guy death toll. also, if lucci wasn't dead, he'd freakin' hunt luffy down and murder his crew -- he even said as much in the final battle! some folks are arguing that nami killed califa as well, but that makes no sense -- she was no more evil than the rest of the cp9 doofus brigade.

Too bad Naruto's writing and pacing is so shitty, especially after the timeskip. The anime is horrible now too. Naruto was great when it first started, but now it seems that the author doesn't know what the hell he's doing and just keeps making shit up as he goes along.
One Piece is actually consistent and each arc is better than the last.

You should read up to the Naruto/Sasuke fight and then the Kakashi Gaiden. The timeskip comes right after that.

oh, i loved cp9 -- they were the perfect combination of scary and comical. also, they gave us franky <3 <3 <3
oda has this bizarre way of making me really like characters i initially sneer at: usopp, chopper, franky, brooke. those four are now my favorites. i'm even learning to like nami. sanji and zoro have gotten a little stale, and after enies lobby, i'm burned out on robin. luffy is just luffy.

Yeah, I think Thriller Bark's making me like Chopper more. This arc is more geared towards Chopper and Zoro it seems.

Yeah, I couldn't stand Usopp at first and Franky's character design just looked crappy to me. Now I like them both. I thought Chopper and Brooke were hilarious from the first time that they were introduced. :)
The CP9 members who weren't in Water 7 were all funny as hell.
