"No one can save the PS3."

PD = Ruzbeh?
It all makes so much sense.
-
I don't think the PS3 is beyond saving, in terms of market performance. There is some precedent: look at PS1 vs. SNES (it took a year and a half before "next gen" hit the mainstream at that time) or at present DS vs. PSP (PSP is slowly starting to crawl out from under DS's shadow as the prices drop etc. Square Enix for example seems to be giving about equal support to both at this point). What we're seeing is just a delayed generation transition, only instead of sticking with the old hardware people are adopting "new hardware" that offers different control approaches in lieu of time/space capacity.

there's no point in being market leader if it has no games

Wii isn't in the same race --- it's part of the PS2/GC/Xbox/DS generation, not the PS3/X360/Wii HD? generation. So its success doesn't really impinge on the next-gen race; the other new consoles are only competing with it to the extent they're also competing with DS and PS2.

I'm not saying Nintendo won't beat the X360 and PS3. They might well do so, but until we at least get some information about the hardware they'll be putting up against them it's impossible to say anything either way.
-
Yes, because next gen hasn't started yet. They jumped the gun.
-
The whole "wii isn't nextgen lol" argument is so old, illogical, and irrelevant that I'm shocked anyone would mention it in October 2007.
PS3 is done in the US. The 360 is just too relevent, and by the time the PS3 gets some games people want to play (like MGS4) it'll be too late. Sadly it seems like the Wii will win this gen.
-
If X360 or PS3 succeeded with their plan, especially PS3, we would be doomed by major companies not giving two shits about gaming but instead shoving down shitty proprietary formats down our fucking throats for their own financial success.
Wii is great and revolutionary because it uses a standard DVD format? That's a new one...
-
The Wii hasn't ushered in anything new, unless you count handheld-to-console ports. Why should I care about waggle?
-
what's with everyone's monorail obsession around here, btw?

ruzbeh is fucking insane.
wii is not that bad.
is that from kinsey?

PS3 is far from done in the U.S. you Wii60 tard (I already know how you are at Game Bunker, GAF, etc.). PS3 will be getting a price drop and the PS brand is still quite popular.
PS3 will do fine, end of story.

Price Drops dont magically produce a viable library. The Wii has proven that 250 dollars is the price point for selling hardware without real software support, and the only way the PS3 could hit that number is by stripping its other features like, PS3 Software Support.

Just like the price drop on gamecube saved it.
Face it, PS3 is tracking UNDER gamecube in usa (and japan).

It's too early to tell if the PS3 will be a failure. I hasn't been a year. TGS revealed that Sony's machine will receive decent 3rd party support.
But their has been a dark cloud around the PS3 ever since the price was announced. Price. Developer's problems with the Cell architecture. Lack of compelling software. There is good and even great software, however, nothing that shouts, "Boy, I'm getting a PS3 for this." It seems many are waiting for Metal Gear Solid 4 and FFXIII. But how many times have heard, "Wait for (insert game here).'' I honestly bought my PS3 for its potential, just like Sir Stringer said.
The PSP launched will much more positive buzz, struggled a bit, and now is doing great amidst hyperbolic DS sales.
The Wii's success so far has been due both its price and WiiSports.
I know we all hate anecdotal evidence, but every non-gamer I know who has had interest in the Wii has only been interested in it as WiiSports player.

I have a feeling Wii Fit will be added on to that as their "second" game.

I also think GH3 for the Wii will be huge.
