Between being busy early in September, falling ill in late September, and losing teeth and living in fear of dentistry, I have fallen behind in supporting my blog. I actually just put up a metapost going over all of this, so I won't repeat anything else I wrote there. Go there if you want to read me make excuses for not updating.
Anyway, I have a number of ideas for updates, enumerated above, and in some cases I have even begun to write updates. I know none of you people will probably read whatever I decide to do first, but I am interested in your input. I'm somewhat wishy washy on what to do first, and that means I will waffle if left to my own devices, and that nothing will get done. Below I have gone into a bit more detail on certain potentials.
Death Proof review: I did Planet Terror, so I should do Death Proof. I should definitely do Death Proof since I actually liked it, whereas Planet Terror was shitty chicken city.
Caligula review: May or may not happen, so no guarantees. I think this will be the easy winner due to the notoriety of the movie's content, but oh so much has been said about this movie over the past 25+ years. It is kind of a timely topic, what with the recent DVD release. I'm iffy about promising on this one because the movie may not even grab me.
Tales from the Crypt: I was actually going to do a 90210/Dawson's Creek Watching Club-style series of threads on this, even getting to the point of ripping the first few episodes. I was going to dedicate a post per episode, and I had pretty in depth writeups done on the first two episodes, with another few having preliminary work done. I didn't want to start the series until I had a good amount of prework done, and it's a good thing, because the end of September would have seen the end of things had I started prematurely.
Gaming shit: I've been playing an inordinate amount of games lately, on a variety of platforms, and I have a few topics in mind. The novelty here is that despite being a moderator on a fairly large gaming forum, I rarely talk in depth about games, largely because the signal to idiot noise ratio at said forum makes attempted conversation as pointless as trying to read Finnegan's Wake reflected in a mirror while simultaneously huffing ether.
Comic shit: Similar to gaming, it's not a subject I talk about too often. I'm not certain I have anything to say here, either, but I guess I could try.
Book shit: I'm not sure why I added this to the poll, really. I have an active topic that I've been working on, but it's not cooked quite yet. It'll bring sexyback. Or pedoback.

Start with some Ron Paul stuff. Then I''ll check the blog out.
-
I frequently talk about things I hate, but that doesn't mean I'm going to waste my time talking about either America or its wretched political situation.
-
book shit, because games and comics and movies are all dumb.
-
Calling it "Book shit" was loading a term on my part. It's not like TVC's Book Club or anything. It's a sort of exploration of the relationship between an actual event and some fictional things that it has expired. Like I said, it's still cooking, largely because I haven't devoted as much time to the concept as I'd like, and I think that my current conclusions are lacking too much depth to be truly respectful to the chosen topic.

Tales from the Crypt

I liked planet terror more. More grindhousey.
-
More grindhousey in that it's not actually a good movie!

exactly, I want to watch blood and action. deathproof wasn't bad but it was definitely surprising since I saw it first and was wondering wtf this was called grindhouse.
-
you're an odd thing, nintenho
-
If a director tries to make an intentionally bad movie and it comes out good, should we condemn it as a failure?
-
it should be entertaining bad, not soporific bad.
-
Recurs: Well we gave Columbus a holiday for stumbling upon America and mistaking the Native Americans for Indians

You say this, but all I hear is (http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/2232/scg091907175430bw5.jpg)

it's grindhouse in terms of weirdness but there's like no gore and sex which is what I expected having never known about grindhouse movies before tarantino and rodriguez hyped up how much they're going to put sex and action in this. awesome ending though.
-
Chick Habit alone makes Death Proof better than Planet Terror!
-
was that the ending song? it was pretty good.
-
Death Proof isn't a cheesey grindhouse film but when it's a fucking great movie who cares what "genre" it is?
-
I just said it was confusing to me because I saw it first (and by itself) so it looked confusing since before I saw it, all I knew was that it was half of grindhouse.
-
edit: wrong topic lol

I've been meaning to start my own blog. Who do you use, TVC and how much do you pay?
-
Wordpress.com is free and it's pretty damn good. I use it. TVC uses their blogging software (wordpress.org) and hosts it himself, I think. I've been thinking of doing the same.

you have a blog?
-
Yeah, I use Wordpress. I pay for my own domain and bandwidth, and I definitely don't get the best possible deal. I get good service, though, and the price I pay isn't really that bad in somparison to anyone else out there. I've just been using the same hosting people for a while and they throw me bonuses now, so I stick with them.

I WANT CRYPT KEEPER
-
I think that will probably be it, at least for tomorrow. It'd be easiest, at least to start, since I have some progress done on it. I might not get to do a top ten, or it might be ten memorable episodes (do I really have the time to whittle it down to the ten best?). I can hammer out the first part tomorrow afternoon or evening.
-
Caligula or Tales from the Crypt. I could already find lots of chumps on the internet talking about games and comics and Tarantino-related shit. :cop
-
You get Caligula. Many of the things I say I have said ont he forums already, but uh, the movie kind of blew me away.

I just hacked it out quickly, so there will be revisions. Suggestions welcome.
-
nice. i am wondering if i saw a thoroughly edited release of caligula in college, because i don't remember a fisting scene/reference, nor do i remember it being that shocking. in my defense, i was probably pretty drunk and high when i watched it.
-
There is apparentlya 150 minute cut that edits out the worst of the worst.
-
I'm doing the Tales from the Crypt thing next. Hopefully this weekend, and it might be broken up into a few installments.
Um, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing. . .it's not a top 10, because I find I am skipping a number of "top 10" episodes that everybody already knows about and have seen a zillion times. I'm not exactly doing 10 good obscure episodes, either, because I think I am going to select at least a few popular ones, too. I'm not even sure 10 favorite episodes is a good designation, because in a few cases I am going with episodes I'd label as interesting, rather than as favorites.
So basically, I may not even try to qualify things. I'm also leaning heavily on certain seasons right now, so I may try to spread things out a bit more.
