Still waiting for Amazon to ship out my copy of Robocop on Blu-ray. It's in stock, I preordered back in August. They apologized and gave me a $10 credit for my inconvenience, but they won't give me a reason why they haven't shipped it out!! :maf :maf :maf

If you bought that, you have no excuse about not getting Rachet and Clank Future because it's "more the same." :lol

I ended up sleeping a lot today, too. I guess that is also symptomatic of being sickish. Once I found out that I got paid, I wanteds to go into Seattle, too. Maybe tomorrow.

I feel like going into the city tomorrow to see Blade Runner: The Final Cut. I'd most likely have to go it alone.

Nvm in that case. I just thought you got it for no reason. A lot of people do that.

I was getting tired of sitting so close to the 27" Westinghouse I've been watching, and wanted something a little bigger. Someone bought this TV at Wal-Mart yesterday and returned it today (the sales guy said they complained about the cable TV picture, people buy these TVs thinking they're going to get an HD picture through regular cable). It still had all the plastic static sheets on the front. A $780 TV for $600, couldn't really pass it up. I know, I know, Vizio, but it looks fine to me, and it's big. A friend is buying my old Westinghouse (1.5 years old) and an extra progressive scan DVD player I had laying around unused for $350, so I spent $300 out of pocket for a 37" HDTV. Pretty good deal.

Man, I was at Circuit Shitty getting my

and I saw the 72" plasmas. They make my 50" TV seem SO TINY!
-
I can't imagine getting anything bigger than 50". Our living isn't big enough to handle it, we'd go blind not sitting far enough away from one!
With that said, the 27" CRT HDTV is looking mighty small in our living room. February can't come soon enough....
-
Yeah, now that I am in my pretty big 1 bedroom apartment, I am perfectly happy with the 50". But man, 72" is titanic!
-
I cant imagine getting anything bigger than 32 inches

A 37 inch TV is the perfect size for me. That gives a 30" 4:3 picture, and a decent size on those superwidescreen DVDs. I'll be sitting a little closer to it since it doubles as a PC monitor, too.
-
32 widescreen is basically the same as my ol 27 inch samsung in terms of size. I just like NOT HUGE cause my apartment isnt big and I like to sit far enough away from the TV as not to produce mental agony

I got:
Orange Box
PGR4
Blue Dragon
In the buy 2 get 1 free Toys R Us deal
-
Blue Dragon? I did not know you were a JRPG homo.
-
MAF, how much did you pay for your TV?
-
950 before tax, that was a while back tho.. bought it at teh Fred Meyer. Great tv
-
Blue Dragon? I did not know you were a JRPG homo.
Chrono Trigger is like my favorite game ever. However, I wasn't excited about Blue Dragon until I read positive reviews here and elsewhere about the game, and how it was better than the demo. I'm looking forward to it.
-
Even still, give it a few hours to win over your heart. My first impressions were definitely not as glowing as they were after about 5 hours. I mean, it starts out good and acceptable, but it only gets better and better up until the last dungeon. . .where it kinda drops the ball, but hey, it's the last dungeon.
-
No worries, I'm a vet of long boring old-school rpgs. I got bored around FF 7 but before that I pretty much played them all. Including Phantasy Star III. If I can do PSIII, I can do any sort of boring stretch in Blue Dragon.
-
Holy shit, Phantasy Star III. That takes me back. That game was awful - but the concept was so awesome (playing through various generations of a family) that I kept playing it for a long while.
-
The easy difficulty of Blue Dragon is probably actually a good thing in the end. It keeps the game moving along at a good pace, so you never really get bored. Always seeing new things and what not. The game does reward grinding and leveling up shadows, but you can always progress until your heart's content with little trouble.
At first the easy difficulty was something of a turn off, then I remembered how many RPGs I quit because I got to a tough fight and grinding was too annoying to do.
-
Yeah I agree, there's nothing worse in an RPG than getting to the end and realizing your party isn't strong enough. That happened to me in Phantasy Star II and I ended up never finishing that game because of it.
Ichirou- PSIII's concept was such a tease. It's too bad even the generations played the same, I couldn't even keep it straight. I probably beat it three times though, there was a lot about that game I liked, even though it was pretty much terrible. There was a certain charm it had.
-
I really wish we'd get an honest-to-goodness traditional Phantasy Star game again...that series had so much potential that was discarded in favor of online stuff. :(
-

Good to hear. I want a new laptop and TV by the end of this year, but I don't wanna spend much more than $2000 for both. $2500 is the highest that I'll go.

I :heart PSIV. Damn online rpgs to hell! :maf

That's not what Caligula would say!

ANAL FISTING

Phantasy Star :bow :bow :bow - my favorite video game series of all time. Hell, I didn't even think 3 was all THAT bad, its just that when compared to the rest of the series, it really lacks in comparison.
I just went on a bit of a wine tasting trip out east yesterday, and I bought Senko no Ronde 360. Which is OK but I am still getting used to it.
-
Yeah, III isn't all bad. It's just not one of the best RPGs I've ever played. And it's SLOW.
I never played IV. I wasn't rich and couldn't justify spending $100 on a game. I hated the end of the 16 bit era, games were so freaking expensive and weren't much/at all better than games that had come much earlier in the generation. Of course, I've since learned that PS IV was worth the price. My loss :-\
And yeah, PSO is a terrible series and just another example of why Sega isn't relevant anymore. I hold out way more hope for a decent Shining Force sequel (or even a retranslation of SF III) than I do for another 'real' Phantasy Star.
-
I played through a friend's copy of IV, and then I bought it on clearance at Kay-Bee Toys for $25. I had to exchange the first copy I got 'cause saving didn't work. I guess the battery was dead. But I bet by now the battery of the exchanged copy must be dead too. :(
Did PSIV ever come out in any Sega compilation? You people are making me feel like playing it again.
-
Tet - I recently read an interview with some of the Camelot people (posted on neogaf) where they said they weren't opposed to doing another Shining... hopefully Sega ponies up and lets them make an SRPG, none of this ARPG stuff.
Ichirou - you can get PSIV for the Sega Genesis collection for PS2/PSP. I'm actually gonna give PSIV another playthrough on mah PSP after finishing off Phantom Hourglass.
-
Yeah I read that as well Tiesto. I hope so, Shining Force III was the last of the 'old school' rpgs that I've played and enjoyed. I was really disappointed the rest of that game didn't come out in the US, and would kill to get it or a true Shining Force IV. If Blue Dragon is half the game these games were, I'll be very happy. I've certainly enjoyed reading Swastiko's (the first one to start glowing and raving about the game while others still slammed it due to the demo) impressions and later TVC's and Demi's impressions. It was on my radar just due to who worked on the game, but the lackluster reviews and my not having a 360 until recently put it on the backburner. A buy 2 get 1 free sale is the perfect excuse to get games that fill needs but aren't necessarily must haves in your library.
-
I actually tried fucking around with some weird emulator just to play the first SFIII 1st Scenario. NEVER AGAIN
FUCK YOU SEGA
-
I really need to get SFIII and PDS... Its weird being a Saturn fan who likes RPGs and not having those games! Tet, I hope you like Blue Dragon... I'm a MAJOR fan of oldskool RPGs, and I absolutely loved it.

I done bought a new gaming PC. I was on a store's site, decided to add parts to the cart just for kicks, and I wound up buying them. $1300 inclusive for a mid-tier gaming PC with a 20" widescreen monitor. I can't complain.

I bought Valkyrie Profile 2 on saturday 8)

Wow, I didn't know it was included in that set. I know what I'm buying with my next paycheck now!

I paid off my preorder for the Ace Combat 6 LE flightstick bundle. The guys at my local Gamestop where I preordered it are in awe at me. One of the guys there downloaded the demo and loved it. Namco has another sale there. :-*
Also, I bought the Nyko dual charger/dual battery combo for the X360, in black, and a 1600 point card to download the new Forza 2 cars, and to prepare for the new Lumines Live DLC...
