I think I about fell asleep.
-
I havent tried it yet.....anything redeeming?
-
I only played four classes, the Scout was the best so far. Everyone else felt boring and slow.
-
Attack and Defend and Control Points were extremely boring too. Capture the Flag was great.
-
i'm not really feeling TF2 either... but the HL2 package + portal is OMG good.
-
I was all into it during the Capture the Flag match, but then after a few more maps it was slowly... dwindling... down... zzzz
-
i'm still trying to understand all the nuances of the game. there's a lot to consider when choosing professions, and if your team has no strategy, it's basically deathmatch. i'll give it another go tonight or tomorrow. it's hard for me to put the puzzle quest needle down.
-
It's such a waste of time. I can't believe people were hyped for this. Once I'm done with Portal and EP2, it's going to Ebay long with H3. And it's back to Shadowrun for me.
-
lol, the backlash from the non-pc gaming crowd. eat poop
-
This port is horrible. If I could keep the fucking menu screen from locking up or get a match where I'm not drowning in lag every time someone joins or leaves, I might be able to get some enjoyment out of it.
-
I'm not sure what I'm getting out of TF2 that you guys aren't but I'm loving the hell out of it on 360 and PC. Of course, I've been playing the Team Fortress games ever since the original Quake mod.
-
Can you change the modes for the maps? I seem to only be able to play Capture the Flag on 2Fort. I'd get the PC version if you can play Capture the Flag on any map.
I love playing a Scout. Just zooming around. Bzzzzoooom.
-
The new/old 2Fort rox. But I really like the other maps too. The amount of required teamwork now is kinda nuts. The old game everyone could rambo most of the time.
-
I'd kill for Hunted and The Rock to be put on Team Fortress 2. I'm a little miffed about the game only launching with 6 maps, but I just looked at Team Fortress Classic's history and that one only launched with 5 maps. I don't feel so bad about that, now. I just really hope that Valve kicks out some new maps really soon.
You can only play the mode that the map is designed for. TFC's 5 maps included 3 Capture the Flag maps. I wish TF2 had more than just 1. :(
-
I dunno I think no matter how many maps are released a game gravitates towards about 5 anyway, and its not like TF2 has a REALLY weak map so far.
-
Ew, maps are restricted? So there's only 1 CTF map? Is this how it is with PC version? I don't want to buy a game when I only want to play one map.

Yeah, same with the PC version. I think there's a few user-made maps out so far that may have different modes but I'm pretty sure most of those are crappily made right now.
-
Weak, I'll look into it after a year. Maybe I can grind out all the achievements on this first.
-
2Fort is considered 'the classic' CTF map. I am sure more will follow, but I tend to find the node maps more exciting and less Scout/Sniper dominated.

I want to see a Team Fortress 2 version of Canal Zone 2. That was such an awesome node map!
-
Scouts rock, I think that's my class. Spies were confusing to work with, Heavy was just too slow for me, and Soldier was "eh"
Need to toy with each class for an achievement, so I can get a feel for each one
-
id wanna see a node version of de_dust

id wanna see a node version of de_dust
Did they actually use Counter-Strike maps in TFC? I don't remember that.
-
Heavy are my class o choice, spys are A LOT of work and I usually die for a stupid reason. I suck at sniper and im ok at soldier. Engineers feel kinda cheap in terms of score gain, pyros require suicidal habits, and scouts require reflexes.
Heavy for me!

You guys all need to give the demoman a chance sometime. When I first played the demoman in the TF2 beta, I only tried to use the regular grenade launcher when I was going offense. This is BAD! DO NOT DO THIS! You should also be using the sticky grenade launcher to try to lead whoever you're shooting into it to blow them up. When you use the demoman this way and really utilize the sticky grenades, the demoman is pretty much the best offense class (imo). I rock so hard with the demoman now. :D
-
Wow, a Sentry Gun on the intelligence. That's fun.
-
I hate when the engineers brag about their sentry killing me. Wtf
-
Yep, still boring
-
Oh demi, spend that many hours on Brue Dragon and you call the action fest TF2 boring. OH DEMI
-
I think you're trying to put me in etiolate's shoes... I haven't sunk 100 hours into TF2 yet.
-
mmm, tf2. how is it boring? i suck at it, and it is still very exciting. oh, wait, you are playing it on a console like a filthy poor. of course a filthy poor would find it boring, because it doesn't smother their screen in big titty animu whores and bishonen fudgepackers. buy a gaming pc, dirtball!
-
oh, wait, you are playing it on a console like a filthy poor.
I don't have any problem with the console version of TF2. I actually like it more at the moment because most of the people playing on the console are really bad and don't know a whole lot about the game's mechanics so I can OWN them. :D
Some people may bash the player max being lower, however I like it. It doesn't feel as chaotic and crazy as the PC version does with the extra players. You also need to focus more on teamwork and strategy to win with the smaller max players.

Boring
-
Still do with the larger amount of players. TF2 class balance is that good.

I'm not sure how a gaming PC would make me suddenly enjoy the game, I'm still stuck with the same map, only with an emptier pocket.
-
lol oh demi, dont be a jotaro, just back away and delve into skate
-
that's like bitching that football is only played on one type of football field. DUH. nobody wants to memorize ten zillion fucking maps. six is almost too much.
-
I gave it a try. It's not for me. At least I can enjoy the other four games on this.
(I still think HL1 > HL2)
-
I agree with demi, I really only like the ctf mode. I hate how spread out all the control points are.
-
haha oh god, synbios as a supporter. Youre doomed, demi
-
TF2 rocks!
I agree with FatalT, I'm actually preferring the Xbox 360 version at the moment for a couple of reasons - it looks better than it does on my PC, the playing field seems a bit more level (probably due to the nature of the gameplay being alien to console owners) and the smaller max count actually feels beneficial. I wish there were more 16-player PC servers... REALLY.
This will likely shift back towards the PC being my platform of choice once I get a bit better, my rig runs a bit faster and all the custom maps start hitting.
-
Once you play a fair bit of larger count servers you'll realize that there isnt much of a difference between smaller games from bigger games cept new players last longer
