Full BC? Hmmmmmmm
How does it look at 1080i?
-
It has bc? Bullshit. I thought the 20 gb doesn't have bc?!
-
Of course it does. It's the launch unit that went with the 60GB, not a new SKU.
-
Only thing gimped about this SKU is no wifi and no memory card reader.
and no chrome....

Are you serious?!!?

He is dead serious.
this beauty plays PS1/PS2 even better than the 80 gig SKU.
PS2 GPU/CPU ftw.

well isn't it possible to get a 3rd party memory reader?

Of course, USB card readers are cheap, and i am pretty sure you can find alternatives for wifi (ethernet will do fine for some).
you can replace the HDD easily too.
-
Waste of money, they will drop even further at pawn shops who don't know any better

I was trying to find a 20GB model back when I bought my PS3 last February. I never managed to find one, so I just ponied up the extra cash on a 60GB unit. The SD card reader is actually quite handy for me, but it's not worth the extra cash. And, I don't use the wifi, I have it plugged into the router. If you're interested in a PS3, I'd totally jump on a 20GB if you can find one. Just swap out the HD for a bigger one and you're set.
-
What do you use the sd card reader for, distant?

Wait, no fucking Wifi? So what's the solution for that?

Same way you deal with it on the 360. Plug it into a router.
-
I have a wireless adapter for 360, my router is nowhere near my games in my apartment.
Would I have to get some bulky $50 wireless bridge?

Are you asking about games. All movies can be scaled to 1080I. So can the PS1/PS2 games if you have a PS3 w/BC. Most PS3 games are stuck at 720p though, so you're screwed if your HDTV only does 1080i.
-
It's a Samsung Slimfit that I just bought, pretty sure it handles 720p. Now I'm only worried about the wireless.
-
My 1080i Samsung HDTV CRT does 720p, so I'm lucky. Can't wait for my 1080p (and covert purchase of a 360) next year, though.
-
Admiral,
Maybe you should hunt around for the 60gb if you want wireless since an adapter will probably set you back an additional $50. I've seen some good bundles for the 60gb PS3. You still pay $500 but you get a free game or controller.

360 works great on a 1080P TV since every game can be scaled to 1080P. IMO, it makes a big difference in picture quality because most TVs have really lousy scalers. It's surprising that Sony made such a big deal about 1080P and then it didn't even include a 1080P scaler chip in the PS3.

ebgames has the 20GB for $380 plus 5 free blu rays (with decent selection). No other sale comes close to that one. I don't care about the extra space, 20GB does fine on 360.
This Wifi thing sucks ass though, can you link me to the least ugly bridge you know?
-
Sorry, I'm not familiar with wireless bridges since I got the 60gb version and I'm too cheap to buy one for my 360.
