Heroes watchers -
Is this show worth opening the box? Best Buy has a special this week where you get a free Heroes boxed set with the purchase of a 360 HD-DVD player - that's in addition to the five free mail-in HD-DVDs thing they have going on - so I took my receipt from my Friday purchase back there and picked it up for free. I can probably flip it on ebay for around $50-55 bucks, but is it worth watching? I've never seen an episode.
-
yup, it is worth watching :D
-
it's worth watching but it's not a real HD showpiece.
-
How is this even that hard to figure out?
Just watch it and then sell it.
-
Flip it on ebay.
-
Flip it and buy LOST boxsets instead
-
Damn, they are making it hard to avoid that hd-dvd add-on :'(

Sealed = more $

The season finale was a trainwreck.
-
Well, I think I'm gonna flip it sealed for the $5-10 extra bucks I can get, and just put the series in my Netflix queue
Yeah, if you're on the fence about buying the 360 player, this could push you over. The Heroes set is $70 at its cheapest (Amazon), plus you get a relatively decent selection of $20 HD-DVDs for the "five free" offer. And King Kong in the box, if you give a crap about that. That's about $190 worth of HD-DVDs right off the bat - you're basically getting the player for free.
-
Comes with a media remote as well?
Let me know your impressions (and which 5 free discs) you get with this deal. I might have to jump in as well this week.
-
I've spent a ton (or traded at Moviestop) on HD-DVDs since Friday. I'll post impressions on those later tonight.
Yeah, it comes with a Media Remote.
Click this link for the list of HD-DVDs you can choose from for the five free:

It's love it or hate it. I really want to watch those last 5 or 7 episodes or whatever, but I've been having a difficult time motivating myself. Maybe you'll have problems too, if you're a discriminating viewer. Much like, oh, let's say Entourage, I have a difficult time not thinking critically while watching it, because even if the premise, on paper, sounds like my brain should easily turn off, the presentation of the product on screen, all dire, all serious, all Spider-Man emo, indicates that one must take it seriously.

I made a thread pointing out some of the problems with the show that keep me from caring about it.
I would say it flip it. i got the add on last night :)
I'm keeping mine though because well, I like to collect shit. any sane person should flip it and buy Lost on dvd instead

watch lost instead

here's the thread I made on the show. if you can stomach those problems... enjoy!

I'm a regular Lost viewer. I'm going to wait on buying those until Blu Ray players come down in price to an acceptable level (for me that means $250 or less), and get all the seasons in HD. That show is gorgeous in HD. I don't have a dog in this stupid HD format fight, and I have a lot of inputs on the back of my new TV, so I'll get them both and go dual-format. I figure if one format goes belly up, the movies I own in that format will still play just fine.
Flipping that Heroes HD-DVD set tonight on ebay.

good plan. just don't waste any money on it.

well it's a decent show. I would never pay for it myself. I always watch it by the NBC site but that site seriously sucks balls ever since the redesign and now it lags like fuck.
