A WII game actually got a higher score than 6.0. Wow. I'm going to get it even thought I've never even heard of it. It looks pretty gay but I need to buy a game to justify my WII purchase.
Are you getting this too, Demi?
-
Puzzle game...
i dunno, not really my type.
-
It's a puzzle game? It looked like a platfomer from the screenshots. lol
-
I am getting this, yeah
-
It's more like a side scrolling adventure full of puzzles.
at least that's from what i saw here:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=cddwtJXJ4Nk
-
why are people interested in this? because it has nice graphics for a wii title? that's about it :lol
-
Because Gaime Guy said so.

I like point and click graphical adventures, and this seems to tickle that prostate
-
Point and Click, yup that's more like it.
game is about 15 hours, and since i am lazy and not in the mood for long games, i just might get it.
though i just remembered something...
i need to get Phoenix Wright 3 first!
-
point and click puzzley goodness, I am unable to resist.
Hell, I'm the guy who bought both Touch Detective games, Zack and Wiki might as well be crack cocaine wrapped in bacon, stuffed in a twinkie, it carries that much appeal to me.
-
Getting this at some point. I love that Monkey Island vibe.
-
I'm definitely picking this up. I really hope it does well. The Wii is not for everyone, but talented developers should be rewarded when a majority of the Wii's 3rd party offerings have been mediocre at best.
-
Next time I'm in New Jersey I'll play this on my parent's Wii. Until then, someone should port it to XBLA.
-
this is in my gamefly queue. i was a lucasarts/sierra point n' click whore back in the 286/386 days so this will probably not live up to my expectations. but i'll give it a chance nonetheless.
-
Gamefly queue. It's currently vying for space with Ace Combat and Beautiful Katamari, which I took a dump on and sent back.
-
I like the setting in this game. I'm a sucker for Tropical Island type environments.
Also, I should probably check out the Monkey Island games sometime.
-
I'll probably grab this depending on word of mouth. The reviews are good, but I need some trustworthy feedback, aka not from Nintendo fans.
I might be waiting a few months just because money is tight with my dental situation and I already have lots to buy on my plate.
-
Nintendo fans to TVC:
SUPPORT 3RD PARTY ON THE WII! OMG
BUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUYBUY
personally TVC, i say try it yourself if you can or wait for good impressions from our posters here.
-
They didn't have it today...
At least the clerk was a hefty hottie. Always worth a visit. He's so nice.
-
Would I ever do that, my sweet?
I'm gonna have a Wii marathon tonight to get me prepped up for waggle
-
An actual good third party Wii game, and they release it around the time SMG hits shelves. Nice work guys.
-
SMG is next month though, they have a couple weeks going for them
-
This game looks terrible.
-
I'll pick it up this weekend and give some feedback.
-
We can already guess
-
I doubt it. Personal opinions are less predictable than groupthink ones. =O
-
You would be surprised!
-
I wish someone would surprise me.
-
it's hard to be excited about a maybe good Wii game when 360, PS3, and PC have more absolutely fanfuckingtastically awesome games than there are hours in the day

One of these don't belong.
-
There's at least two A-level games this fall (Ratchet, Uncharted) which is two more than Wii.
But yes, PS3 pales next to 360 and PC.
EDIT: One more, maybe. But I find it hard to care about Galaxy.
-
What, the 5th Ratchet game in like 5 years is more exciting than Galaxy??? Sometimes the Nintendo hate goes a bit too far around here, completely clouding up any kind of rationality. Uncharted might be good, though, but likely won't have anything on Fire Emblem, Zack and Wiki or Galaxy.

How does Uncharted have nothing on the umpteenth Fire Emblem a series unchanged since its original iteration?
-
i think the new fire emblem has terrain. the series has finally made it to 1992. some 20 years from now it might produce a game fit to hold tactics ogre's jockstrap
-
Since when is 7.5 considered A-level?
-
the reply that used to occupy this space made more sense when it was in my head. i need some sleep
-
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/938681.asp
I've actually been ignoring this game because I thought GAF was just hyping up some crappy no name game, but it's getting good reviews. *adds to Wii game list*
Edit: And according to gamespot, it's a better game than the new Ratchet.

There's no need to be ashamed of that post. PDZ was a POS that was overrated because it was 1)one of the first next-gen games 2)a sequel to an oldie that was better in people's memories than it really was.
-
3) Rare, 4) multiplayer was good according to reviews anyway.
i just hope they get it better with PD2 and Banjo 3.

The fact that I like SRPGs more than 3D action games?

fuck Zack and Wiki, Im getting Dragon Blade
-
So much for waiting for me then
Buddy.
-
i hear this is by the ug+g team. if so that's enough to make me suspend my automatic hostility towards wii games. just this once
-
So much for waiting for me then
Buddy.
Time waits for no man plus a friend from school let me know how it was.
It's impossible to find in South Florida apparently.
Oh, I see. I think I understand.

where the fuck is Dog Island
-
I think the hurt is enough for now.

lolz i bought a wii
lolz :'(
-
yeah, i'll either sell it or give it to my sister -- she digs wii sports and old mario games. i'll probably rent zack and wikipedia while i've got it
-
All non-gamers love Wii sports. I show them GT5 and no one would give a fuck but they go crazy once I bring out the WII.
-
I got my copy today, and a new Zelda. Good to dive into after finishing Prime
-
Zelda is good. Even the visuals are pretty decent although some of the character models look like they came out of a Dreamcast game. I think you'll like it more than MP3. The problem with MP3 is that so many great FPS games came out the last couple of months. And MP3 is a FPS game no matther what the dumb N-kids say.
-
The first three dungeons in TP are bad. The tear collecting is atrocious; yes, worse than the triforce hunt in WW. The entire first half of TP is so blatantly bad. I have no idea why Nintendo didn't take that game away from Aowhatever.
-
Yeah, the beginning of TP did kinda suck. I forgot about it 'cause it was fun once things got rolling.
-
And Midna is annoying.
-
I was unemployed and drunk when I played TP so the pace didn't bother me. I probably would have quit it now.
I was stuck in bumfuck PA over the holidays, or else I probablyw ould have shitcanned the thing after the first dungeon.
Even when it gets good, I wasn't very impressed. People (like Prole) kept telling me that it got awesome at Arbiter's Grounds. It got better there, yes, but I think that had as much to do with no longer having to collect shitty tears than anything else. I didn't think it was anything special. The second half is better, but it's still not great.
-
Hey fegs this is Zack and Wiki, I will make a Zelda thread when I make considerable progress
-
I actually hated the 2nd part more.
i mean i go to a freaking temple, get out and lol now you have another temple waiting! and most of temples were long and boring.
there is barely any life in the game, just temple here and temple there.
-
We'll ruin that one as well.
You can lick my ass, that's what
-

Man I totally feel you. The other day I was playing megaman and I beat a level, a long level too, and then guess what after I beat it, there was another level waiting for me! Just waiting there for me and I was like "what the hell man, I just beat a level!"
While TP doesn't have the most side quests in a zelda game it still as enough things to do in between levels if you go looking for them.
-
At least MM is fun!
-
so the verdict on zack and wiggity wiki is --- mehtacular?
-
I think the only people who have played it is TVC and Robby, I'm up to plate tonight
-
so the verdict on zack and wiggity wiki is --- mehtacular?
reviews are good. barely anyone has played it here.
-
the damn game's status is "Low Availability" on my gamefly queue, so it's gonna be a while before i get a chance to play it. gamefly sucks ass sometimes.
-
TVC said it's great.
-
lolz i bought a wii
lolz :'(
At least pick up Galaxy before you dump it.
-
anyhow back to the game. i really want serious impressions since I might pick this up tonight and never play it.
It's pretty good. Very different. Suitable for bite-sized gaming chunks (each stage is pretty short, but in a good way). Lots of shit to collect. Pretty good use of waggle. There have been some decent puzzles so far, too. It's like an updated take on the graphic adventure, with a focus on breaking it up into couple o' minute sized stages.
Minuses include the visuals. Capcom did their job well, Nintendo's hardware is just trash. You can tell the game would look pretty good on an SDTV. The other major minus at this point would be that sometimes the waggle doesn't work as well as it should, or how you are supposed to be moving something isn't very clear. This hasn't been a problem that has caused a game over, and even at the worst bits, it's only taken me a few seconds to figure out what is going on, but I'm early in the game, and if I've encountered this issue a few times already, I'm likely to come across it again. I have not run across any that were bad yet, but the graphic adventure school of puzzling dictates that there will eventually be annoyingly non-intuitive puzzles. It's only a matter of time.
So yes, it is overall a good game. Not sure if it's a 9.0 yet, but if you want a Wii game that's good and is devoid of third rate mascots, here you go. It features decent use of the waggle and an apparently lengthy game. Another bonus is that outside of the beginning, it doesn't appear cutscene heavy at all. Capcom deserves our dollars once again! Unfortunately, Nintendo fans are scum sucking gaywads, and they will probably skip this game and we will never ever get a sequel or follow-up.
-
i hear this is by the ug+g team. if so that's enough to make me suspend my automatic hostility towards wii games. just this once
they keep getting put on bombas
-
holy shit i advise that you never attempt to play wii sports by yourself, sober -- i was roughly aware of the game's crudity from drunken social sessions, but wow
WOW
also 480i composite video lol
i've got proper cables coming from monoprice...i'll rent some games when they show up
-
Zack and Wiki is Widescreen :o
-
Right off the bat, Zack and Wiki pulls the distinguished mentally-challenged Sim-Talk card.
KI KI KI KI MONKEEYYYY ZAAAACKUUUUU
-
So far I'm digging it. It looks real nice on SDTV. The music is really good and it has a basic overt story. The characters are well designed and pirate bunnies is a great combo. It is setup with basically adventure-esque game puzzles, but not adventure like worlds. It is just stage by stage and you figure out what to do, collect Z and Coinage and move on.
As for the wiimote deal, this is an example of how it changes the game: Last night I got stuck on an early puzzle, well the last level of the first area basically. I had a bat umbrella and I knew it must serve some use but I couldn't interact with anything. So I go to bed, in the middle of the night I realize/remember "Oh I can flip items over if I flip the wiimote and then I can slide down the rope with the handle". I had to think physically instead of hoping for the game to give me some menu or button option as soon as I got close to the right thing.

is it as bad as animal crossing's gaga googoo shit, or okami's japanese child jibberish?
-
It's very annoying screeching, and there is no way to turn it off
-
In annoyance I would rank them most annoying to least:
1. Okami
2. Animal Crossing
3. Zak n Wiki
-
if my opinion means anything around here (yeah right), I'd tell you guys that its hands down my favorite Wii game and is easily the best puzzle game to come out in years.
If you're about puzzle solving, you'll lap this up. It rescues the puzzle genre from the Tetris-clone ghetto its been living in for far too long.
and there's no part of the game that's annoying, other then the not so great visual output my Wii puts out (not a complaint levied at the graphics, which aren't half-bad).
-
The voices in Animal Crossing are the most annoying due to the fact that are already stacked on top of a shit game.
And if you listen closely they actually pronounce what they're saying. Fucking creepy.
I played AC so much that at one point I could understand what they were saying without reading the text.

If we expand this to include annoying voices in general, Baby Mario from Yoshi's Island has got to make the list, although it might be 4.

Also add on Midna and the fairy from OOT
