Age of Apocalypse and Maximum Carnage are the two comic arcs I ever remember. Well I remember Maximum Clonage which was bullshit.

Marvel Zombies looks hilarious, I need to check it out.

I got the Clockwork Orange HD-DVD.  That Moviestop trade-in thing is pretty decent - you trade in four DVDs (doesn't matter if you bought them PVD from BLockbuster, or out of the Wal-Mart bin, or whatever) and you get a new release free (up to $20).  I traded in some old PVDs and paid $5.33 for the Clockwork Orange.  I have The Shining and  FMJ Deluxe HD-DVDs reserved for the same deal, but those hadn't come in on the shipment yet when I got there.  I'll check this evening.   I went ahead and reserved The Aviator and that Blade Runner complete edition while I was there. If you have a Moviestop in your area and a bunch of DVDs you want to get rid of but which aren't really worth anything, this is a pretty good deal.

TVC, I know you own both HD players, but why did you choose the HD-DVD versions of the Kubrick titles?  Is it a better transfer?

HD-DVD transfers are surprisingly more dependable because they use the best and most efficient video codecs.  Blu-ray very often uses the older Mpeg-2 codecs because they have the capacity for them.  Unfortunately, a bigger sized Mpeg-2 transfer often looks worse than a smaller sized AVC transfer.  Also, for some reason, some Hd-dvd releases have also had better soundtracks than their Blu-ray counterparts.  It makes no sense since Blu-ray has more capacity but that's just the way things have been.

I know it's not as common now but in general, it's probably still safer to go with the Hd-dvd version.  There havel been a couple of recent releases that have better audio or features on the Hd-dvds.  The good thing is that most dual-releases have the same AVC transfers now.
