Title: Fuck you teeth
Post by: T234 on October 23, 2007, 01:33:39 PM
Why do you hafta get 13 small but really expensive holes?

Praise be to the heavens for my dad's insurance or else it would be ten times as much.

1300$ (before insurance) for wisdom teeth, how do dentists sleep at night!?

That sucks, man.  I had a friend that had to get a root canal and he had to pay from his pocket.  He had no dental insurance since he works for a stingy company.

Taking care of your teeth will save a lot of money and headaches.

Flossing, brushing regularly, visiting the dentist twice a year, and abstaining from sugary foods and you will keep your teeth forever.

qft

People don't seem to take care of their teeth like they take care of their bodies, which is sad. The mouth is taken for advantage. Bad oral hygiene can cost you thousands, and is directly linked to heart disease...

root canals SUCK.  highly unrecommended.  i had one when i was in high school.  definitely made me think twice about taking care of my teeth after that.  i've been cavity-less since.

In nice houses  :D

Actually, I think in general dentistry isn't as lucrative a business as it used to be, as it's much easier to properly care for your teeth.  However, just because there is flouride in the water doesn't mean you don't have to brush.

I brush, floss, and rinse twice daily and my last two visits to the dentist have been practically pain free.  This is in sharp contrast to my poor oral health growing up which resulted in excruciating digging beneath inflamed gums and hour long teeth cleanings.  If only I knew then what I know now.  Luckily, I only ever had two really small cavities which were caught early.  No long term damage except that which was done to my psyche.

However, wisdom teeth is just bad luck.  I had four of those as well, I feel/felt your pain.

I've had like four in my life, but I don't really mind getting fillings.  The only thing that's sorta a bother is the after effects of the shit they inject you with.  I feel like me cheek is sliding off my face.

But root canals, ugh.  Had one a couple years ago, most uncomfortable time of my life.  It's not that it hurt, it was just...ugh.

This.

My dentist said my teeth are in much better order than other people my age. I've never had a cavity either. Probably because I brush for 5 minutes as opposed to 30 seconds.

I had a root canal done about 6 months ago. It wasn't that bad, I got to wear headphones while listening and watching peaceful music and got some laughing gas stuff. I think I experienced what it's like to be high.

doctor just told me I need to get mine taken out.  I'll probably do it soon.  They give you a bunch of painkillers for the next couple of days, right?

Yeah, but you might not even need them!

I never had a cavity until like last year. I was terrified about it but it was really no big deal and I felt like an ass for being so scared of the numbing needle. :lol

That's what I'm hoping for.  The painkillers are supposed to be strong enough to act like a drug (cause they're both based on poppies or something).

I brush every day but I think I still have a few cavities. My teeth don't hurt though. I had 6 or 7 filled last year. I don't really mind the filling part, I just hate having to sit there so long.

If I ever get a root canal or have my wisdom teeth removed though, I'll be sure ask for some painkillers. I think my tolerance for pain is pretty high though due to all the surgery I had on my mouth when I was younger. There was one point where my mouth was bleeding severely all night long. It sucked.

How the hell does someone get 5 cavities? More than 3 is pushing it, so 5 and above is like wtf. How many times a day are you brushing? Floss? It's hard to make a habit out of flossing, but just doing it twice a week would help the overall health of your mouth. And it's a great way to ensure good breath - along with brushing  your gums/tongue of course

This thread should be called "Fuck you pop". Game Fuel? Mountain Dew? They're just not worth it in the long run. Every bottle essentially has 19 tablespoons of sugar in it. :-\

like, when i was 14 and i went to the dentist once, he told me that i had 4 cavities.

the look my mom and dad gave me when he said that was just... wow. it was like someone died. they were disgusted with me. i'll never forget the look on their faces. for the next couple of weeks they and my brother joked around about my teeth. :'(

never again

It's not all about brushing/flossing though.  A big part of it is genetics.  I was born with really strong teeth, and as such they could take a ton of abuse before I started taking care of them.  My mom was born with really soft teeth, and although she had very good oral care, her teeth were falling apart.

also, don't forget to brush (or whatever) the tongue. bad breathe is mostly because of all the dirt on the tongue.
