Nope, the only stuff New Line has announced so far are new release titles for Blu-ray (Rush Hour 3 and Hairspray), and Pan's Labyrinth for both Blu-ray and HD-DVD.

amir was talking about encoding LOTR on AVSforum, probably it will come in the 2nd half of 2008.
although i'd like to note, that new line cinema have delayed several HD-DVD titles to Jan 2008 due to "region coding" issues, as they said.

I'd only buy the third movie, maybe the fourth. Haven't seen the fifth yet. I'll be hard to watch it now that the series is over  :'(

I wish Rowling didn't skip over the most interesting period in the characters' lives.  I want to know how Hermione lost her cherry.

:lol

Yeah, I have it pre ordered.  I've only ever seen the first and second movie though.  I hated the second and loved the first.

I'm all over the five movies on Blu-ray. I'm not getting the boxset, though.

I'll probably get it on Blu-ray too.  When the transfers are the same, I prefer BD because they're supposedly less scratchable than HDDVDs.  What's the difference between buying them seperately and the boxset?

The boxset is this weird luggage looking contraption. The movies aren't in separate cases, so it will look really odd with the final two movies sitting next to it.

I'll get the box set.  IIRC, it's a pretty good price.  Heck, I almost bought the Spider-man set today because it was 70 bucks for all 3 on BD.

I'd be all over that if it were any series but Spider-Man.  Tempting, but it's shit Raimi.  I would sooner buy Stop or My Mom Will Shoot on BD than Shitter-Man.

I really liked the first two, so I didn't feel too bad about picking it up.

No she did not.  That never happens in the book.  You could interpret as happening, but not state it as an objective fact.

There were hints Dumbledore was gay, some of them pretty blatant, but yes, it was JK's authorial trespassing that did the confirmation.  She has not done the same for Krum fucking Hermione.

Ron was just getting down fucking Lavender Brown's face when Harry stumbled into the classroom  :shh

Perhaps Rowling's decision to make Dumbledore's sexuality explicit was born out of her frustration that few readers, screenwriters included, picked up on her hints, which were particularly heavy in the final volume. The clues were subtle enough, or maybe our expectations heteronormative enough, that -- although it was a question I talked about extensively with fellow readers this summer -- the topic did not seem to get a lot of national critical attention in the weeks after the book's release.

But a close reading would reveal that "The Deathly Hallows" was shot through with intimations about the headmaster's sexuality, and not just in reference to his love for Grindelwald, which Rowling describes as a teenage passion that makes the otherwise responsible young wizard forget his family and go uncharacteristically batty. The book kicks off with an obituary by Dumbledore's school chum Elphias Doge, who describes his first meeting with the teenaged Dumbledore as a moment of "mutual attraction" and who later tells Harry that he knew the wizard "as well as anyone." Then there is the lurid language of a scurrilous postmortem biography of Dumbledore, in which writer Rita Skeeter wonders about the close relationship between the headmaster and his young pupil: "It's been called unhealthy, even sinister ... there is no question that Dumbledore took an unnatural interest in Potter." Here Rowling is aping the leering, speculative tone of news stories about gay priests, Cub Scout leaders, and teachers accused of inappropriate relationships with their charges.

Rowling further revealed that at a recent read-through of the script for the sixth Harry Potter movie, she'd had to nix a line of dialogue about Dumbledore's affection for a young woman. She said she'd passed the screenwriter a note reading "Dumbledore's gay!"

Not really relevant to the point, but cute.

Eh, nonsense; people are reading into this far too much. It's a shame men cannot have mutual interests in each other, or be close loving friends, without being accused of being possibly homosexual; that plays into so many stereotypes about gay guys, and it's frustrating to me.

This has been happening in literature for so long, from King David and Jonathan to Froda and Sam :/
