KONAMI announced today that "METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS", the latest in the METAL GEAR series, is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2008.

KONAMI had initially intended to release "METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS" this winter and has been working on the production of the title. KONAMI has decided to delay the title's release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.

KONAMI will continue its efforts to make "METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS" meet everyone's expectations.

Further information regarding the release date will be announced as soon as possible.

That's wack.  The PS3 really needs this game boost hardware sales. 

Maybe they need the time work on the 360 port. ;)

Kidding aside, I cannot believe that Konami will not port this the 360.  Recent sales data has confirmed that the 360 tie ratios have been off the charts, beating both Wii and PS3 handily in that measure, any 3rd publisher that ignores that install base is either distinguished mentally-challenged in the realms of business and commerce or paid off by Sony.

GameStop has lots of exclusive upcoming PS3 games you can reserve - like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune or Haze or Time Crisis 4 or Little Big Planet!  PS3 is the system for hardcore gamers!

Has anyone heard anything about Haze? I'm almost experiencing FPS overload but the Haze trailers looked pretty good.

I love MGS but I'm not really that saddened.  If this is Kojima's last MGS, I want him to take as much time as needed to make it the best MGS ever.

It still has not been confirmed.  And Kojima Productions haven't been dropping hints about any cross platform development.

Who cares if it'll be ported to the 360?  Judging from past MGS ports, it'll be shitty.  I don't think Kojima wants to help an American console succeed in any way although it's just my gut feeling.

I'm an FPS whore, and I will probably wait on Haze.  I liked all of Free Radical's previous games, but there are too many great shooters, and great games in general, to bother to pick up a game that looks like a pretty generic amalgamation of other games.

I'll probably nab it in the beginning of the year lull in 2008.  Haze looks like Far Cry and Halo fucked hard, and to be honest, I think Free Radical's own distinctive designs had much more personality than that generic mish-mash.

There'll be massive suicides if Uncharted averages anything less than a 95%.  But then again, the SDF is already preemptively calling out the media for being biased by predicting 7s and 8s from Gamespot, 1up, etc.

This is the best PS3 commercial I've seen so far.  The music is a bit generic but the "transformations" look really cool.  Sony might have owned the 360 a yr ago if they had commercials like this instead of the abstract garbage they were using.

The writing has been on the wall for months, but this merely confirms the suspicions that a 360 port is in the works. It'll be announced 3 months after the PS3 version is released, just watch

I don't know, man.  It seems PS3 owners spend more time getting excited over videos and announcements than actually playing games.  In fact, you can check my posts to see that I was making fun of this 9 months ago.
