I'll agree with FoC. I am hyped for the ultimate cut. It's merely a great looking, pretty good science fiction movie. I'll take Alien over it for Great Scifi of that period.

I'd go in with lowered expectations, if you can. The first time I saw it, I was like, uncovering every stone looking for exactly why people held it in such acclaim, and I came out of it kind of disappointed. Later, on viewing it on its own merits alone, I enjoyed it a lot.

I had actually never even heard of Brazil until joining this forum. Canadians dislike south America for what ever reason.

In the category of overrated movies, FMJ is way better than BR.

It's a movie about rampant bureaucracy and a never ending war with "terrorists." Yet you dont seem to make the connection with the current candidates. :maf

Probably had to do with actually going to a good theater. And Harrison Ford of course is awesome. The last 20 minutes or so were incredible.

I've only seen the first 45 or so of Brazil. I didn't get to finish it. :-\

I prefer the DC, but the theatrical cut is interesting, and should be watched by a fan at least once. The awkward incorporation of more overt noir elements via the narration does radically alter the tone of the movie, though.

Everytime I acquire Blade Runner (director's cut) on DVD, it's scratched to hell and worthless. Hopefully I will be able to acquire the Blu-Ray set.
