... no wonder it bombed in theaters!
-
lulz
still need to see it, maybe I'll pick it up soon.
-
the harrison ford narration is almost offensively pointless
also, choosing to cut out UNICORNS is an affront to all fans of the AWESOME
-
The Harrison Ford narration is pretty awful. It's like:
HAY THIS IS ME IN MY OBNOXIOUS "LOOK IM A DETECTIVE!" VOICE SPOON FEEDING YOU INFORMATION THAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DIGEST BY JUST USING UR FUCKING EYES
-
I listen to the 'End Titles' song a lot. So badass 8)
-
SUSHI
THAT WAS MY WIFE'S NICKNAME FOR ME
COLD FISH
-
Whats the difference between the Theatrical cut and the Directors Cut? And yeah, Harrison's narration voice was goofy as fuck.
-
Is the theatrical cut the ONLY version you've seen, Blue?
-
I dunno about the new director's cut (the so-called "final cut"), but the differences between the original and the director's cut were - the voiceover narration, the unicorn dream (the theatrical version didn't have it) and the happy ending (Harrison Ford escapes with Sean Young and reveals via voiceover that she didn't have the limited lifespan most replicants have so they're gonna go somewhere to live happily ever after - in the director's cut the movie ends as the elevator doors close).

Yeah and it was cool but the editing was sort of jarring (even without a point of reference).

Jesus :lol
I need to see this cut. I'll probably buy the Final Cut when it comes out

The Final Cut contains the following changes to the Director's Cut:
* The shot of Deckard waiting to eat at the White Dragon has been shortened, its editing reminiscent of the workprint version of the shot. This was done due to the removal of the voiceover.
* All the violent scenes in the International Cut that were deleted in the U.S. theatrical release and Director's Cut are restored to the Final Cut.
* When Bryant and Deckard are looking at the Nexus-6 profiles, Bryant gives a description of Leon's job. This was from the workprint.
* When Gaff and Deckard first appear at Leon's apartment, the landlord now says "Kowalski". Another small bit originally from the workprint.
* Deckard's conversation with the snake merchant Abdul Ben Hassan has been altered so that the dialog is no longer out of sync; Ben Ford's mouth (lip-syncing the spoken dialog) was digitally placed over his father's.
* A shot of the busy crowds in the streets was restored. Immediately after that, a shot of two strippers wearing hockey masks (similar to the one worn by Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th films) was restored. Finally, there's a shot of Deckard talking to another police officer. This sequence takes place just prior to Deckard entering the Snake Pit. These three shots had previously appeared in slightly different form in the workprint version; the last two-thirds of this restored sequence has Brian Eno's "Qu'ran" playing over it.
* The original full-length version of the unicorn dream has been restored. This is a much different version than the one that appeared in the Director's Cut, and has never been in any version seen by the public prior to this one.
* During Deckard's pursuit of Zhora, Joanna Cassidy now performs the stunt when being shot, rather than the obvious stunt double seen in previous versions. This scene was re-filmed specifically for the Final Cut.
* When Batty confronts Tyrell, he says, "I want more life, father." (from the workprint version and used in television broadcasts of the film), as opposed to the original line "I want more life, fucker."
* After killing Tyrell, Batty says "I'm sorry Sebastian. Come. Come." when before he merely approached the desperate Sebastian. This is also from the workprint.
* When Batty releases the dove, it now flies up into a background that matches 2019 L.A.
I can't believe you watched that piece of shit first, Blue. But at least you got the same experience as people in 1982! :lol

:lol
Why did that even get changed, thats hilarious
-
I love that change, actually.
-
I want MOAR life
-
"Father" resonates much more than "fucker." Especially since he crushes his skull and gouges out his eyeballs afterwards.
-

Oh, I like it too! I'm wondering why it was changed in the first place (if "Father" was what he originally said?) If not than its a change for the better.
-
Yeah, father in the workprint, fucker in the theatrical release, and now father in the director's cut. Weird.
-
There was a lot of weird shit in the theatrical release.
-
I'm actually glad to hear that change...I always hated the "fucker" version of that line.
-
but the Hauer-esque way he combines Father/Fucker into one word is so awesome.
So very awesome.
Criminy, Rutger Hauer is the shit.

Final Cut on HD DVD Dec. 18 = fap

Final Cut on HD DVD Dec. 18 = fap
also on blu-Ray!
-
True! I only have HD DVD though, so thats why I only mentioned it. Regular DVD too. Actually, DVD gets a set with JUST The Final Cut, which is all I really want. HD/BRD owners have to buy the 5 version edition.
-
I'm enough of a BR nerd that I don't mind owning all the editions. Also, the weekend of Kubrick has gotten me totally hyped for classic, restored films in HD.
I wasn't trying to start a format war, btw--just wanted to make sure everyone who could picked up the Final Cut. :)
-
I'm definitely picking up the BD version (don't own a HDDVD player) even if the format goes the way of the laser disk :cry . I'll always have my PS3 hooked up though, for the odd PS3 game and PS2 games (its also my defacto DVD player now).

:wag

I don't see anything wrong with that, since it's less than $30 at Amazon.

Good man. Like I said in that other thread, these HD Kubrick sets are a godsend. Easily the best thing to come out on HD formats yet.

i saw 2001 again yesterday, well, most of it, but aside from the ''telephone tv's'' and some gravity stuff it doesn't look like something out of the 60's. it could've might as well been something out of the 90's/00's.

The wardrobe and furniture are very 60's. And the computers dont have color screens.

I am not sure whether to get BD or HD-DVD Final Cut.
HD-DVD - can take HD screenshots on PC, but no HDMI on TV
BD - HDMI, which actually makes a significant difference in both sound and picture.
