God damn I just wanna disconnect and BE THE FUCK ALONE FOR A FEW DAYS A WEEK! YEARRRGHHHHH!
-
I prefer single player games but there's nothing better than a good multiplayer game, preferably OFFLINE.
-
I just get tired of dealing with people online after a certain point of the week, I think as people get older they start to value the time spent away from people.
-
I spent all Saturday evening staring at multiplayer RTS matches.
I spent my gaming time sunday in the warm glow of X-COM's geoscape screen.
I like a good mix of single and multiplayer, with a bit more single than multi.
-
I even play WoW as single player. I ignore people till I need something then BAM multiplayer.

Playing games online qualifies as "spending time with people" now? I just like human competition.
-
There is no "easy mode" online

What if you don't have any offline friends?
-
Cajole: Having to even LISTEN to people prattle on about their life affirming head shot = dealing with people.
-
Connect your headset, turn down the volume and leave it on the table. Single player experience with better competition.
-
But do any of us NEED 'better' competition as casual gamers? I doubt very much any of us perform in the games we play at tournament level. I see PEOPLE do dumb things more often in an online game than I see the higher skill level AI.
-
I can't really speak from a strictly casual perspective. I can hardly stand to play games that don't feature some sort of competitive angle away from single player difficulty changes anymore. I can't claim to even be relatively good, but I don't feel satisfied by the predictable nature of single player A.I. and the "cheating" that is involved to level the playing field.
For strictly casual gamers, I suppose it's more of an addition to longevity. So no, they don't NEED it.

online gaming is such a fucking fad and a waste of time, I left my Live Golf subscription expire and didn't even notice; I NEVER play online
as soon as it became mandatory to include such a mode in games some ten years ago, their quality fell dramatically; like Carmack said, time and money spent on creating a multiplayer mode is time that isn't spent on crafting a quality single player mode
how many different top-notch shooters/RTS'es/etc do you need to play online? at this point it's all been perfected a few years ago, all the recent additions in the genre are clutter
the only game I *might* consider playing online a bit in the future would be Hot Shots Golf 5, but then again only with people I know
Himuro is right when he says that the only good multiplayer games are offline with friends, now that never ceases being fun; when I'll go back in vacation to the old town I'll play fighters such as Garou and Virtua Fighter 5 with one of my friends who manages the EBGames
-
Exciting
-
I like the odd online game, but only with my boy toys demi and robby.

Would you play a game with Mundane? He claims that Xbox gamers are mostly just button mashing fools.

I would block you if you talked gay to me.

I don't talk gay to demi. Robby though. . .

You talk BS to me, cause you've certainly asked for my dick in your mouth on several occasions

sounds like wishful thinking to me

Are you really in a position to discuss wishful thinking, be real now, I don't want to say something I shouldn't
-
No I ask for demi to turn his webcam on allllll the time

it's doubtful that an editor from a prominent web site would include crude language in his sayings

You completely missed the point, I was trolling you and Kohler at the same time.

discuss what you wish, it is a discussion forum after all.
I never said there was anything wrong with wishful thinking. You haven't heard the news though :-*

I'm much more of a fan of playing competitive games in person...
-
in person is still better for me
I'd prefer non-competitive online interaction of some new sort.

Maybe Nintendo will add a feature wher you can create Miis together online if they haven't already.
I also like how people are talking about my topic in this thread. MAF > me.

not me, there's always this weird silence after an ass whooping that makes the mood of the room change. unless we're playin' some casual fun shit like guitar hero, fps and fighting games always bring out the babies in people.
-
Most of my good friends that I play games with have been raised on malicious shit-talking or grown accustomed to it. No babies permitted. As for playing total strangers? Yeah, I don't like that so much. I keep the shit-talking to a minimum online too. I don't want to spark some douche into a "distinguished black fellow"/"taco" tirade.
The last time I remember one of my friends getting out of control was during a fucking Four Swords session where we all just suddenly decided to stop playing and hit each other with bombs and throw each other into holes until someone had ALL the rupees. Apparently someone actually wanted to play the game normally. :-X

16 player LAN is usually preferable just because of lag and also you don't have to deal with headsets. plus you can shout at the party leader to change the map.
if it's a game with only a few people, I prefer online because of ranked games that try to make the games fairly balanced (like hyp said, not everybody plays the fighting game you play all the time).

pay attention!
Imagine a virtual world where you could do more than just bitch at someone's avatar.

Well everyone has failed at it so far. =|
