so i've got a few domain names set to expire early next year and i was wondering this: if i go ahead and let them expire, does the company i was registered with still own them? what i would like to do is use yahoo (9.95/yr) to register these domain names, but currently yahoo doesn't have the ability to accept domain name transfers from other registrars.
so i was thinking, if i just let them expire, would they open up again for use on another domain name registrar? this shit is boggling my mind so if anyone can help, please let me know.
also, any recommendations other than yahoo for cheap domain name registration?

Isn't GoDaddy cheaper?
Also I imagine you can keep a close eye on your domains for when they are available, but there are a lot of squatters out there that act quick

i've heard bad things about GoDaddy. otherwise i would've probably gone with them.
