Title: Yet Another Virtua Fighter 5 Thread
Post by: ferrarimanf355 on November 12, 2007, 04:21:34 PM
After hitting a brick wall in leveling up, I finally got to Warrior rank. Beating five 10th Dan opponents in a row was easier than I thought. I'm about three-fourths complete on the Sega Arena Coast arcade, and I completed the first four tournaments.

Oh, and I found Milky Pai in the Sega World South arcade after hitting Warrior. Man, I sure hope that wasn't indicative of James' skill, because Milky Pai went down faster than the Dolphins against the Pats. Easy as hell.  >:(

It's been said to death, but you really need to be playing this on Hard.  Normal is just far too easy, unfortunately.  Adjust to your selected character with Normal, but the game begins with Hard.

Normal is fuck stupid easy argh. Hard is ALMOST too hard tho, but i've been forced to learn Eileen to entirely new levels thanks to it. Even so ARGH 5th Kyu Jerky has never been so annoying!

So the difficulty setting in the options menu doesn't apply to Quest mode at all right? The two settings are distinct?

Yup, different. Options menu should only apply to Arcade. Im not sure if this was changed at all because I never played arcade in the PS3 version. I did in the 360 version only to get the achievement, and even then it was only hard at dural or whatever.

Dural kicked the living shit out of me the one time I finished arcade mode.

I completed arcade mode roughly 12 times (I'm going for the "beat arcade mode with everyone" achievement) and I was able to beat Dural maybe three times.  >:(

I just clocked around 20 fights in americal mode online. I can't believe how much of a blast this game is against real human. I'm a fei lei player, and I've lost maybe 2-3 times; the fights were really intense. I love this game, playing against the cpu feels so tame after playing against real people.

Any VF heads around here? I'm looking for challengers

your mileage may vary when it comes to lag. It's all about your network connection. I felt no lag at all except for in two games, one with a japanese player and one with a french player, but other than that, the netcode is really solid.

ok, guys, i need help

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd7X75ZVx1I

how the hell do I do that fast crouching move that Goh does at exactly 00:34. Every character than do that kind of super fast crouch dodge followed by a hit, Ive done it myself by accident twice, and game faqs about vf5 dont cover it.

It's driving me insane HALP, people online are doing it sometimes; and while i can handle pretty damn good so far, I wish i knew how to do this. The manual doestn cover it, and i miss the cool learning center mode of vf4 evo :(

L-O-L, there is already another version of VF5, version D, coming to arcades.   :lol  But this one doesn't offer any new game play or tweaks...just more customization items and now pre-fight animations using them.  Sega really needs to do something to get VF5's popularity up as the behemoth known as Tekken 6 draws ever closer.

I'm not talking about mastering GOH, I just wanna know how to do that damn sidestep+forward where your character lets out two loud breath/attack.

the GOH player does it at 00:34 in the video.

I'm, like, three opponents away from clearing the first arcade in Quest mode. Where the hell are they???  :'(

I love this game but I just can't play it with the current 360 dpad. I need to get that Horii pad before I sink any time into it.  :-\

Hey MAF, you said you use the controller...do you go with the analog stick or the d-pad? Usually, there's no argument there, but the d-pad is so bad. :-\

I've got an awesome combo ready for the next time I play online. EL BLAZE

Yea, I'm a noob.

I can't play VF with the analog stick. Ugh.

Cajole: this sunday when i get back i'll play you in vf. Time to get a PAI in your face.

I played through arcade mode with Pai today...she was pretty fun to play with. Thinking about learning to play with her.

And I play with the d-pad, it's just that I've seen some guys on GAF say they actually use the analog stick.

Pai is a beginner character, but she can handle her own against advanced characters. Don't be put off by the fact she's for beginners. I've been using Pai since VF1.

D-Pad. tho I prefer the dual shock/sixaxis segmented pad for vf games. Had to re-learn for the 360 pad since its way too sensitive on the diagonals.

Pai was balanced down in the 360 version, which makes her use far more respectable than it previously was.

Well, no shit. ANY d-pad would be better.

Himuro, I'm not put off by anything like that. I don't even know who's for beginners or advanced players or whatever. Although, I've always had the suspicion El Blaze is for beginners. I love him anyway.

El Blaze is considered a technical character iirc. While his moves are fast like jerky's, they only matter if the player uses them in the right spots.

The game FINALLY came out in Japan yesterday!  :D

It's all in English too, just like the PS3 version.  I'm impressed by how much better this game looks and runs on the 360...the load times seemed a second or two faster than the PS3 version as well.  And the added customization items and clothes are awesome.  I like that they give you 50,000 custom points to start off with, too.

VF5 just "feels" better on the 360.  It's clearly more polished and it feels like a brand new game to me; I really never touched the PS3 version, but I am all over this one.  Currently I have a Pai named "Paizuri" and a Sarah named "PantyFlash."  I need some sausage up in this equation and will probably go with El Blaze or maybe Jeffrey.

Why doesn't the game use your custom character title and quote when playing online matches?   :-\

You make me want to buy VF5 again.  I've held on to the PS3 version just in case I get the Virtua Stick.  They don't happen to make high quality 360 sticks in Japan , do they?

You could toss it into your new Xbox Live bio area.

Just the Hori stick.  The same one that DOA4 had, I believe, with a VF5 faceplate.

Not the same.
