Title: Flashing the BIOS of an Asus AN8-E Mobo wins you a PRIZE
Post by: MrAngryFace on November 14, 2007, 11:07:49 AM
The prize is a FREE reason to reformat your pc! Flashed the bios with the Asus Update Utility from version 1001 (LOL WHY MY DUAL CORE ONLY SINGLE?!) to 1013 and when it rebooted there was no fucking way in hell I could get the PC to detect the Windows installation, even tho through the repair environ I could SEE the windows installation and the drive. So I reformatted.

The plus side is everything finally runs like pure sex after much hand wringing. OMG OMG 60 fps wow at maxxed settings in silvermoon omg omg

:bow :bow

I still have two of those fuckers sitting unused!  I think I just might build a media PC for my living room with them or something.

So if I use a dual core in there, it won't detect it unless I flash the BIOS?

iirc the AN8-E won't detect a dual core until BIOS ver 1010.

I look in my device manager, and it says I have two processors. MAF, enlighten me.

How do you get to the bios? There is a bunch of information that flashes onscreen real quick and disappears.

usually Del at bootup does that. If you aren't familiar with BIOS stuff I would 'look but not touch' and 'exit without saving'

T234, that celeron is hyper-threaded, which is sort of a "virtual" dual-core. it has a single core but dual execution paths, basically.
