McDonald's (MCD, news, msgs) has been testing sweet lattes and other espresso drinks in 800 restaurants across the country this year and on Nov. 13 announced plans to roll them out nationally over the next two years. The world's biggest fast-food chain scored big this spring, when Consumer Reports ranked its premium coffee No. 1, beating Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and Burger King (BKC, news, msgs) on taste and value.

I've had plenty of McD's coffee and its disgusting.

:lol

McD's coffee beating out a store that strictly sells Coffee? I'm not a coffee drinker at all but that just doesn't sound right.

It ISNT right, its wrong. I could believe maybe Dunken Donuts, but McD's coffee is so hastily prepared and shoved in a cup and spilled on my lap there is no way it 'tastes better'.

Now if they were working some bogus taste/value ratio system bullshit FUCK THEM

I think they recenty (as of a couple of years ago) changed their coffee because of complaints it was so awful.

I've eaten their recently, they have that 'seattles best' garbage which isnt good at all.

I will say the Tazo brand teas Starbucks uses arent nearly as good as the STASH brand teas.

I like Tazo's Zen, but I shy away from bagged teas in general and from buying bagged teas at coffee shops / etc in specific--I'm not sure exactly what you're paying for: them heating the water for you?

I drink tea at work since I just need to buy the bags. I buy drips and quad shot americanos at starbucks.

I'd eat more breakfast at mcdonalds if the sandwiches and hasbrowns werent like a gajillion fat calories. I just hit the cafeteria at work for something more balanced.

A coworker of mine uses one of these http://www.adagio.com/teaware/ingenuiTEA_teapot.html to brew tea in the office, and has this massive collection of loose teas.

There's a bakery right across the street from me that has pretty good coffee; I usually go there to grab a cup in the morning on the way to the train.  Breakfast-wise it's usually a protein drink / meal replacement deal.

McDonalds? Disgusting.

Though, should they develop a chicken nugget flavored coffee... that could be something worth trying.

My wife is a big coffee drinker and she prefers McDonalds to just about anything else. She hates Starbucks regular coffee because it is too strong .. and not enough cream or sugar can mask the taste.

I never understood how the test was remotely fair, seeing as how Starbucks brews a different blend of coffee every week.  I doubt they really tried out every single blend that is commonly served.  I tend to dislike Starbucks' brewed coffee anyhow, so I guess it isn't that surprising.

Is McDonald's actually serving iced lattes now?  I haven't seen anything of the sort around here.  I'd be surprised as hell to see them fit an espresso machine in their already-crowded kitchen.
