Title: Bwahaha, this election is going to be a toilet, even for US politics

This election is going to make the reign of the Borgia's look like a particularly unamusing BC strip!

The candidates are going to tear off their own heads!  This is gonna be AM AWESOME!!  AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

The DNC conference should just be subtitled "Hey Republicans, how about we just GIVE you the Whitehouse for another 8 years?"

Eh, has either Rudy or Romney EVER won a poll against hillary in the last 5 months though?

Will it really matter which party gets in?

Not really.  We've got a minimum of 4 more years of unjust military actions, and progress really won't be made in any other fields until that nastiness is done with.  And probably for some years after that, even.

There was something like this some months back.  The Obama madrassa story.  Some magazine affiliate of the Washington Times (which distanced itself from the article) claimed that they had gotten the information from Clinton oppo researchers.

Nifty, if ham-handed, trick to dirty up two Democrats at once.  And of course they took the bait.

I don't pay too much attention to the campaign stuff, since it bores/annoys me, but wouldn't it play better among primary voters to hit back at Novak rather than each other?

It remains my fervent hope that someone who will continue to fuck with America gets elected, and it finally falls apart to the extent that SOMEONE freaks out and burns shit.

And honestly, I just don't see Hillary as that much of an improvement.

-Hawkish on defense?  Check.
-Advocates bullshit globalization?  Check.
-Fundamentally flawed personality?  Check.

The likelihood that she will be able to get anything good done on Healthcare is slim at best.  She's not going to meaningfully reduce our presence in the middle east, doesn't support a living wage, and is definitely in the pocket of corporate America now.  The only reasons I can think of to vote for her are:  Rudy will be worse, and it would be nice if there were no more psychopathic distinguished mentally-challenged fellows in the vein of Scalia appointed to the Supreme Court.  That's it.

The only real fundamental policy difference between GWB and what Hillary's administration would be is that Hillary would lie to our faces even more.  That's not an improvement.

Don't assume a crisis would create the good, or even entertaining kind of unrest.

Sometimes you get a New Deal.  Sometimes you get the National Socialists.

Yeah, that goes to my "fundamentally flawed personality".  Bush is a hubris crazed jackass, Hillary is an unlikable type-a control freak who would probably make Nixon blush.

Hillary's only admirable trait is her Machivellian rise to power combined with her potentially Caligula-like tendencies once she gets a taste of true power.  Will YOU be her Proculus, America?

I like Hillary's foreign policy stances; it's one of the few issues where she doesn't just pander to the base. That being said, I'm still not too thrilled about the possibility of having to vote for her in 2008.

I still think Romney is going to win the election

I wonder if this story is in any way connected to the one the LA Times is allegedly sitting on. Gay Obama?

Don't under-estimate the illogical obsession women often have with gay guys.

Maybe I should go gay. If it works for Obama it's gotta work for me right?

I'm kinda surprised Hillary is taking this road considering she's got an alleged sex scandal on the back burner as well. The last debate was very interesting early on, right after Obama mentioned Hillary for the first time. It was clear her strategy was to play ball, and she came back hard against Obama out the gate.

Quote
But their Republican opponents also spent the weekend embroiled in claims and counter-claims. Mr Romney has denounced as “un-American” phone calls — made under the guise of polling — to voters in New Hampshire and Iowa, the crucial early states kicking off the nominating process, that highlight his Mormon beliefs and suggest that he had “flip-flopped” on social issues such as abortion. John McCain has denied responsibility for the calls, and a spokeswoman for Rudy Giuliani said that his campaign did “not support or engage in these types of tactics”.

The polling was carried out by Western Wats, a market research company based in Utah, the centre of the Mormon faith. A spokesman for Mr Romney’s campaign denied that it had paid for the telephone calls in an attempt to make the candidate appear a victim of dirty tricks.

Haha! I used to work at Western Wats.  It was for about a month in the summer of '99. It was a shitty place to work.  They hire a bunch of high-school kids and put them through the turnkey-survey mill. They're based in Utah County, the Mormonest part of Utah, so there's no way they were bought off by anybody but Mitt.  This is hilarious.  Unless
