Title: Why is Subways' mustard the worst in the biz???
Post by: Barry Egan on November 18, 2007, 09:48:10 PM
I don't care how gifted a 'sandwich artist' you are, the sandwich will be shit if you put the mustard they have at Subways on it.  I don't like it. :yuck  light mayo or bust

I don't have a problem at all with the mustard.  maybe I don't notice it because I order a lot of sauces on it like mayo, brown mustard, and chipotle too.

I love the light mayo confusion I always get.

Anything else?

"light mayo"

"...so just a little bit of mayo?"

"the light mayo *point*"

"ahh"

While we're talking about SW what kind of sandwich do you like? I like a foot-long italtion bread with turkey, lettuce, oinion, jallepeno, ranch or mayo dressing.

This is why you eat at Schlotzky's.  Their sandwiches are so good you won't want mustard.  OMG
AND you pay twice as much :'(

seriously now,

Subway sandwich that God told me about: italian herb and cheese bread with turkey and ham on it with tomato, lettuce, jalapeno, banana peppers and pickles with mustard and mayo.

perfect.

it feels like god milking your prostate when you eat it.

Im more of a quiznos man, Subway puts on way too much lettuce and not enough meat and their meat doesnt taste that great.

Wow, I might have to try that today, though flippers make sandwiches hard to eat, especially SW sandwiches.

Well Mupepe I ordered what you said with a slight alteration, I added cheddar to it. Guess you're not a cheese fan huh?

LISTEN UP  A good subways sandwich works like this;

Turkey, Ham, Swiss, Cucumber, Green Pepper, Carrot, Onion, No Lettuce, Banana Pepper, Pickle, Mayo and S + P, on whole wheat bread.  Subways lettuce is just crispy water!  Ask for extra cucumber for bonus points.  Also no mustard unless you're a classless degenerate.

If you've got Subways' mustard breath than you are degenerate by definition.

I'm not familiar with this Schlotzky's and I've never been to Quizno's (lol) so I can't comment on either. I do love me some Subway, though.

MAF: Whenever people ask me for "light mayo" I always verify whether they'd like a small amount of regular mayo or if they want the low-fat mayo. (FYI our light mayo is not fat free, which is kind of unfortunate, because southwest is loaded in fat and I like to mix them.)

Best subway sandwiches:

Italian BMT on Italian bread with American Cheese, pickles, light mayo, and southwest sauce.

Subway melt on Italian bread with shredded cheddar cheese, light mayo, and southwest sauce.

Chicken teriyaki on a wrap with lots of shredded cheddar cheese and sweet onion sauce.

Turkey with American cheese on honey oat with a small amount of lettuce, cucumbers, pickles, light mayo, and a bit of honey mustard.

Steak on Italian bread with American and shredded cheddar cheese, lightly toasted, with jalapeņos, lots of southwest sauce, and a small bit of Frank's red hot.

MMMMMM.

Mayo  :yuck :yuck :yuck :-X :-X :-X

I like a good sub with oil, vinegar, salt/pepper and oregano.  A little mustard is good; a lot is just overkill.  There's no Subway where I live (I hear there's one like 30-40 minutes away and I am tempted to go since Subway is such a rarity for me now!), so I just make my own subs using stuff from the grocery.  Suprisingly I can get the sandwiches to taste pretty much the same with what I use.

Oh, and Blimpie is so much better.

And the Italian grocery in my neighborhood back in Atlanta, the '48th Street Market,' makes the best fucking subs EVER. :bow  The quality of their meats, cheeses, and bread is so far above Subway's.

I heard Jersey Mikes was good for a chain, but I never tried them.
