I'm going to have to go through this when I come back from holidays in the US to Japan...they just instituted the same system the US has for foreigners coming into the country - fingerprinting and photographing. How would you guys feel if you were forced to do that when traveling abroad? I'm vaguely repulsed by the idea.
-
I don't really have anything against it as a person coming into the country. But, as they are also going to use the data in a big registry to track foreigners living within the country and thus being made an automatic suspect in criminal cases, I think they should get fucked.
-
According to Japanese people, if it weren't for foreigners there'd apparently be no crime in Japan.
-
that's pretty fucked up. I heard recently that britain is also going to do something like this but they're doing it with citizens and foreigners.
-
They do it in the US too, I've just never experienced it 'cuz I'm an AMURRRRCAN.

If it weren't for foreigners they would still have Hiroshima and Nagasaki - PWNED in their place

Got to keep the am nintenhos from blowing people up.

So this has started now. I wonder if the people instructing on the use of the machines speak English as well as the regular immigration officials... 'You live Japan?' 'Yeah' 'Ok, go'

Ditto. To be honest, I'd never considered how humiliating this must be for non-US citizens traveling to the States for tourism or business, so this gives me a new perspective on the whole thing.
