CHOOSE OR LOOSE!
-
havent played either, which is probably a good thing. I havent played any shitty games this year
-
I played through Lair, it was total ass.
-
Wait, dm, you didn't play more than like 10 minutes of lair, right? Please say you didn't finish it.

Nope, I finished that bitch. And what a dirty STD-ridden bitch it was.
It probably would've been a lot more fun if they hadn't borked it with the stupid six axis control scheme.
-
lair is a total disaster and it got my vote, but come to think of it i'd still rather play lair than a jrpg

I dunno, even if the controls weren't completely terrible, the game would have been at berst mediocre. Factor 5 was a developer only a Nintendo fan could love.
-
oh come on, like there was only one terrible PS3 game this year. :lol
-
I got pretty far in lair. played it only for the score. which is excellent, btw.
-
I had an answer on the tip of my tounge, but it seems to have gone, I'll have to have a think, this should be easier to answer than I'm making it - lots of GREAT candidates

TWO WORLDS
-
Lair is honestly the first game where I had to play mindfuck games with myself.
I was trying to convince myself that it wasn't crazy bad and the next level was gonna be cool, if only for the scenery or whatever.
The game is simply unplayable. Everything feels so fucking choppy and nothing I do feels like I'm accomplishing something. The battles feel so dumb because the game will flash cutscenes all over the place, while people scream at you to do 3 things at once. You don't even have to listen to what they say half the time to finish the mission.

heavenly sword

Putting Persona 3 on par with Lair? :lol Oh tvc.
-
i'd love to vote for lair, but i wasted more of my life with persona 3

Sonic and the Secret of the Rings or Rogue Galaxy

Sonic and the Secret of the Rings or Rogue Galaxy
no way was rogue galaxy the worst of the year!
-
well it had a solid gameplay system, I guess, an original real-time interface that worked well, it ran without performance woes, and the grinding was addictive at times, but for all the rest... goddammit
very dull, one of the worst RPG plots ever (what's up with that shitty, corny Star Wars anime rip-off?), some of the worst RPG characters ever (grrr at those two unfunny robotic sidekicks), irritating one-liners while playing (that you can mercifully turn-off), linear dungeons with very little variety, and a very cliched, shallow feel to it
White Knight Chronicles looks like its combat system is an evolution of Rogue Galaxy's... Level-5 are pretty piss-poor at plot writing honestly, they make some of the worst generic anime plots on the market, their PS3 effort sounds way more ambitious but I'm still wary of its quality
-
It's really between Two Worlds and Lair. Both are fucking horrible but if I had to make a choice I'd still say Two Worlds is the worst of the lot. Even though Lair is basically unplayable, I've used it to help callibrate my home theater so at least it's had one redeeming feature and that's one more than Two Worlds had.
-
Rogue Galaxy, I forgot about. I did put a bit of time into it, but yes, that was one of my biggest letdowns of the year :(
-
Level 5 sucks anyway.
-
I was so happy when I noticed that everyone forgot about Rogue Galaxy very, very fast after its release early this year, and that the game never rose into prominence again for the rest of 2007, quite a telltale sign of its mediocrity
I was eager to play it because Kitsune was saying at QT3 that the Japanese version was his favorite game of 2006 and he made a big-ass thread to hype it... don't know whatever captivated him about this title
-
I think I am sick of Level 5's cartoony little interfaces. They always look pretty nice, but they are never as easy to use as you'd think for something that so much design time apparently went into. This is true for RG, Jeanne D'Arc, and Dark Cloud 2. In DC2 it was acceptable because it was their first real game. In Jeanne, well, it was a fairly simple handheld game. In Rogue Galaxy, there were no buts, it was a pain in the ass.
I liked that the game was challenging towards the beginning, but it was one of those games whose challenge comes from its terrible team AI, and RG has some of the worst amongst these sorts of RPGs. And you were spot on about the grinding, too.

Blazing Angels 2
They tricksed me with that fucking demo
-
We all learned our lesson with that after Dead Rising.

Blazing Angels 2

I can't believe anyone thought that it was going to be good BECAUSE of the demo. However, I think you said that you liked it because of the PS3 controls. The 360 version was :-X
I'm in the minority of being a sports gamer here, but for me the worst game was hands down was Madden 08. I'm not sure if anyone of you have followed it, but EA managed to screw up so bad that you couldn't even play the franchise mode. Whenever players were dropped from a team they would just disappear instead of becoming free agents. So years down the road teams would need someone in a certain position there wouldn't be anyone to pick up, thus the game would totally freeze....goodbye franchise. There were also all other kinds of horrendous bugs such as any time you wanted to edit a player he would then go back to his original age in which he started the game off on (something to this affect). That's just the franchise glitches, there were numerous gameplay ones as well.
