Could you have written a better song when you were 9, 11, and 14 years old? A song that would become a huge hit in like 100+ countries and launch an album that sold 8 million+ copies? I certainly couldn't have, then again maybe you're a musical prodigy and I am not.

They accomplished more by the time the oldest learned to drive, than most of us have at this point in our lives now. I'd be pretty proud of myself.
Now, granted, it is a pretty annoying song, especially the version they played all over the radio in 97 and 98. But don't knock the band for something that they did TEN YEARS ago.

What works to get songs like that out of your head, for me at least, is to think of some other song that's equally as catchy but less annoying to you. Try something by the Spice Girls. :D

Hanson, as in the band they were 10 years ago, is horrible? Or Hanson, the band now who owns their own label and does lots of good things for kids in Africa and are very critically acclaimed and stuff, is horrible? Because if you're only judging on the latter, then you need to get a bit familiar with the former.
Because bands do change over time, especially a decade, especially when they were teenagers and younger when you first heard of them. The youngest? Yeah he's 22 now. You know yourself you were a very different person, and probably would have been a different musician, at 22 then you were at 11.

I myself haven't even listened to the '97 version of MMMBop in probably like 6 years. It is kind of annoying and if I do listen to the song, I listen to it on their last live album when they don't sound like little kids, because they were no longer little kids. :)
He doesn't sing along, but he respects that I like them and will tolerate them. He doesn't particularly like them, but he says they're much much better than some of the "whiny emo music" that I listen to. I love Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin, but he HATES Andrew McMahon's voice. I love Juliana Theory, he just flat-out hates them. He doesn't mind Less Than Jake or Reel Big Fish, though, which is very cool.

I don't think I can change my own tag? I would, though.
I mean honestly, if I can change one person's mind, then I'm cool. I don't parade around in Hanson t-shirts handing out burned CDs and being "OMG LISTEN TO THIS" or anything, but if they come up in conversation, I defend them. And each time that happens, if one person listens to a new song and says "you know, not my style, but not bad" or "they really grew up and their music matured" or "they said f-u to a label and started their own? awesome" or "they're partnering with TOMS shoes to give shoes to kids in Africa who don't have any? very cool".
If one person goes away with a new thought about them, and that aren't the same kids who sang an annoying song ten years ago, then I'm cool with being the Hanson Defense Force.

I always hated it and it grated on my nerves so much. So whenever people mention hating MMMBop, I get it, I get hating a song. But I've never judged Eiffel 65 as a band because of that one bad song--I haven't heard anything else.
When I was like 9 though, I loved the Macarena. True story lol.

I think that we can all (aside from Nikki, who would fight a bear in the name of Hanson) pretty much agree that Hanson's old stuff isn' good. BUT, I don't think that gives you the ability to judge the band's current stuff based on what little kids came out with years ago.
Their new CD is a pretty good mellow rock album. It's not shitty pop or anything.
And this is coming from ME, who fucking hates everything. Listen to the album and you might like it.
