Prole you HP cigarillo, get in here! >:(
-
no problem at all, and that's a fuckin' great deal
6500t = :bow :bow
america's favorite laptop
-
Sorry, dude. You aren't going to get much help. HD-DVD drives in PCs are a new thing, so nobody is going to have any experience :(
-
Awesome deal.
but HP software is lol.
doesn't matter much though.

i doubt he would have any problem, and even if he did, it can always be patched via a firmware update.

I see. Any idea why HP only has HD-DVD drives and no Bluray? Format war bullshit?
The main reason that I want this is so that I won't have to buy a standalone HD-DVD player (at least not anytime soon).
-
Originally, HP was HD DVD exclusive (just like Acer).
but about 2 months ago at some blu/hd conference (can't remember the exact name/date) they announced that they will go neutral.
-
What about this deal, Prole?

You can use the 360 drive with any PC and it comes with 6 free movies. The 360 drive is probably cheaper than a labtop Hd-dvd drive.
-
the external drive (the 360 strap-on) is probably the better deal because as smooth said, it comes with a bunch of free movies and it connects to your PC/laptop through a USB port. An internal drive would help with portability but then there's the problem that you could probably only watch one HD movie on a full charge (disk constantly spinning). and then you have the problem of the drive possibly breaking forcing you to send in the whole laptop.
you plan to use this for school or for everything in general on PC?
-
That's my laptop, Smooth, except mine is awesomer.

So $900 is a good deal?
-
The 360 drive is really ugly to me. :-\
Plus the reason I wanted this is so that I can just hookup my laptop to my TV to watch HD-DVD movies.

Everything in general.

It looks better than a WII, you dummy Ninthing!
-
Fuck the 360 drive! I don't want it! I don't even have a 360 yet!

We need to talk.

:lol
I'm trying to take advantage of Kmart's 20% off coupon, but the fuckers haven't had any of the new systems for about a week now.

...what?
laptops run out of batteries faster when they're playing a movie. this is from the drive constantly spinning . I'd imagine HD movies make it run out a little faster because it does require more processing power.
the best thing to do is get a 360 HD-DVD drive and use it on your laptop for a while and then put it on your 360. unless it really looks too ugly to you.
Everything in general.
that's what I thought. would have been better to go lighter for a school only laptop.

I'd be displaying the movies on my TV in bedroom. The laptop would be plugged in the whole time. I want the HD-DVD drive to watch movies on my plasma, not the laptop's lil' 15 inch screen.

yeah so the external drive would work best in that situation. I don't now if they have a black one yet but that might look a little better.

How? If I get the laptop without the HD drive, then it won't have an HDMI output. How would I connect my laptop to my TV? It has no DVI inputs. HDMI is the only way that I can connect my TV to a PC.
-
oh, I thought it would let you choose HDMI when you assemble it. It's pretty stupid to only allow it if you get an HD-DVD drive.
-
you get hdmi out when you choose discrete graphics over shitty intel bullshit graphics
but you lose a few usb ports

Really? I still don't want the 360 drive though. :P

I missed out on both of the deals in this thread. They both ended earlier than they were supposed to. :'(
