Why didn't anyone tell me this Criterion was out? It's only like one of the bestest movies ever.
-
can i get it at best buy?
-
When I have some time I'm gonna ask you for movies to watch and then actually watch them, for now I"ll just smile, wish I had the time and get a boner thinking about seeing No Country For Old Men again. :-*
-
I watched this in my art-faggish high school days when I thought I was all kinds of smart (I wasn't, High Schoolers are dumb by nature) so I remember shit about it except is was slow and gorgeous. I'll have to pick it up again now that I am not such a dumbass (I am still kind of a dumbass).
I've noticed that it's only in the past couple of years that I've gained the ability to appreciate really visual movies, like this. I don't mean Transformers lol I'm Willco visual; I mean movies that know how to use visuals subtley and in metaphor in the effort of making a movie with more depth. It's kind of cool that in movies, visuals can be both superficial and deep. Sometimes it even happens at the same, like in 2001, or (another example, though I would add caveats) The Fountain.

?
and to specify, i mean B&M best buys, not the site. because like the 5 closest best buys carry no criterions in store except maybe a kurosawa collection.
-
do you have a borders B&M near your area? they tend to carry a lot of the criterion stuff. but if you're sensitive to price, stay away.
-
I just use DeepDiscount for Criterion stuff, they tend to have Criterion sales.

how bad? price usually doesn't bother me that bad unless it's extremely outrageous

This film is like a B-
-
So it's exactly as good as Transformers.

Hey, White Man, the current "Girls of Penthouse" issue has a Caliuga feature with an interview with Malcom McDowell. I'm just sayin'. :-*

Shit, anywhere I can find that online?

An amazing movie that I need to see again. It's kind of shocking how he's kept the quality up four decades into his career. I couldn't believe that The New World was just as good.

I don't know. Google it. I may buy it later and transcribe the interview if you're really interested.

The locust sequence is possibly the most remarkable thing I've seen on film. I want this on HD-DVD.

On my 720p set with my PS3, the newer Criterion transfers upscale very nicely. If Criterion is putting the DVD out now, it will be at least 5 years before they do another transfer.

As long as the DVD is anamorphic my HD-A1 upscales incredibly well but I'd still rather have a high definition version. I'm considering buying it, though.
