The Knicks have been irrelevant for years. Can we even remember a conversation in the past two decades where they've come up in NBA discussion whatsoever? So for a franchise that has been wallowing in mediocrity for years, to get so much coverage on ESPN, seems ridiculous. Yes, I know it's New York. But - hey! - when the Jets tank, ESPN doesn't spend all year chronicling their failures. There are better teams in the NBA getting less national coverage than the nicks. Lot better teams.
The Knicks don't even boast a marquee player worthy of any attention. When your "star" is Stephon Marbury and you get more press than a bad 76ers team that had Allen Iverson or a mediocre Timberwolves team that once boasted Kevin Garnett, this just seems stupid to me.
Maybe there is some credibility that ESPN just focuses on the Boston and New York markets. The rest are afterthoughts.
I ask this same question all the time, except substituting basketball with hockey, the Knicks with the Leafs, and the US with Canada. There's your answer. Toronto is by far the biggest local media market in Canada. New York is by far the biggest local media market in the US.
no, and the fact that many people willingly indulge in tribalism to the significant exclusion of self-development baffles
NEW YORK CITY OR NEW YORK STATE
How are they a "huge, important" NBA franchise? Because they're based in New York? Just because they're in New York, doesn't mean we need to sit through endless coverage of their mediocrity. And to say that Los Angeles doesn't have the media that New York has is just speaking out of your not-black ass again. The only difference between the Lakers and the Knicks is that the Knicks are a cultural institution for New Yorkers and the Lakers have actually won meaningful games in the past ten years.
And that may be an understatement because the Yankees are still getting a lot of off season press due to the A-God talk.
there's a reason it's called GIANTS Stadium
Hey Blue, I heard the Giants lost by a lot of runs last week.
No excuse! his brother won the Superbowl even though he's still going through fetal development!Hey Blue, I heard the Giants lost by a lot of runs last week.
