do the SP first.  don't try harder or veteran though.  those are bullshit in cod games.  normal is pretty well balanced (I haven't played 4 but I've played 1,2,&3).  if you do the MP, I'm worried you may never care to try the campaign.  it's so good.

do the MP first.  forget about the SP for now, they've been done to death. normal is pretty well balanced (I haven't played 4 but I've played 1,2,&3).  if you do the SP, I'm worried you may never care to try the MP.  it's so good.

the sp in COD games is pretty decent.  plus cod4 only has SP achievements.

lol.  well the MP has like this ranking system that gives you upgrades to your weapons/abilities when you level up.  fucking addictive in even the beta.

That's funny, because I was pretty much the opposite for almost a month. MP is soooo fucking awesome. We need to play, duder.

SP is supposedly short though.  Some say they beat it in 4 hrs on the 1st try.

I did that training course until it recommended I pick Veteran. That's what I'm playing on. So far it hasn't been THAT ridiculous.

Although, I figured out a way to cheap-out in the TV station level.

I tried playing COD3 on veteran and it's not hard until you get to the parts where you have to rush enemies and there's no cover and the enemies keep respawning and grenade spamming and it hurt my bottom hole.  I did like the fact that playing on a higher difficulty level makes new sections, sometimes new areas (I replayed halfway through COD3 on "harder" until I found out there's no achievement for that).

i just finished the single player yesterday. it isn't excessively hard on hardened, but i'm not sure it's much fun. you have to come up with the lamest solutions for the sticking points -- hiding in places that the ai can't cope with, running for checkpoints that magically stop the spawning. i tried the bonus mission on regular, but that seemed too easy. it's weird...i liked the game without particularly liking the gameplay. it just looks great and has cool scripting.

cod4 is my piss-in-the-cheerios game. everyone has the game they feel the need to troll where ever it pops up.

cod4 is mine. mostly because i wanted it to be so good, and for brief stretches, it seriously is. but like, the best parts are the parts where you don't shoot.

COD4 > Mass Effect

(bonus fact: their respective SP campaigns are the same length!)

Wrong. The best part of the game is MP. I would've been fine if that's all the game was.

I've barely played the SP in the various other CODs, but from most of what I hear, this is the same stuff. I don't know what you were expecting.

Can't argue there.

I feel like IW was given the ability to make LOUD NOISES!!!! better than they were in WWII, and they sort of overdid it. In a lot of ways. I don't ever remember choke points like cod4 has in cod2. But it's been a while.

and who cares!!

Frankly, I don't play SP in any FPSs more than once (well, I don't play any games more than once, really) so I want an experience. From what I've played so far, that's what IW did, even if the gameplay seems somewhat archaic and unfair. If you thought it was too hard, you should've bumped it down a difficulty notch.

But really, I barely play the campaign/story in FPS anymore. The last few I have finished are HL, HL2, Halo co-op, Metroid Prime 1 & 2 and Bioshock. The only one of those that even HAD multiplayer was Halo (MP2 doesn't count). And that's like this entire decade.
