Title: How is an electronic music performance possibly my favorite album of the year?
Post by: CajoleJuice on December 05, 2007, 02:06:41 AM
I've never been a fan of electronic music (I like Prodigy - Fat of the Land and NIN, that's about it), but I tried earlier this year with that LCD Soundsystem album. Yea, I hated it. But I really never listened to Daft Punk prior to a few days ago. Hell, I didn't even realize "One More Time" was performed by them.

Since then, I've got all their stuff and have been listening to Alive 2007 pretty much non-stop. It is incredible. I want to go to a Daft Punk concert, take some drugs, and just fucking lose it. Recently some dude made a thread on GAF called, "Am I the only person who doesn't like Daft Punk?" and GAF promptly jumped on him. Now I see why.

This version isn't as awesome as my favorite track on the album (it's cut down), but it'll have to do.

I don't like the album versions nearly as much, honestly.

Which is why I just listen to Alive 2007 over and over. It's the ultimate Daft Punk mixtape.

Did I post in the Daft Punk thread? Because if I didn't I should have. Responsible for a horrid album that tortured me in my retail days.

etoilate is probably talking about Discovery, Still Human After All is fun to listen to but totally appaling from a technical standpoint, you can tell the album took less than a week to make

That comment was a bit premature on my part. I've barely listened to their albums. I'm going by a few songs, and I don't think any of them were on Homework.

Most of the best Daft Punk songs have been heavily commercialized or overplayed for me to a point of nausea, unfortunately.  At this point, I can only listen to Homework occasionally (skipping over Around the World :yuck) and a small selection of tracks from Discovery (err what tvc said).  Human After All is shit other than maybe Robot Rock.  Still, I would have killed to see Alive 2007.
