I almost bought it, but I just got it on DVD like 2 months ago :(  I found out about the BD release like the next week.

Hows the transfer? I would like to see some ol' school movies that got a good cleaning (IQ wise)

For the DC the transfer has not been redone since the last DVD release I believe, just transfered into HD. But that doesn't mean its not pretty.

The HD transfer is pretty good, not Kubrick good, but still good.

The special features are worth it. If you get it at Wal-Mart, you get the soundtrack, and all of the sets come with two discs, one disc solely with HD special features.

It's probably one of the nicer DVD/Blu-Ray sets I have. Since the film comes with all three versions of the film, there's a comparison chart and a companion booklet as well. The other side of the chart is the original theatrical poster.

Close Encounters is a movie where the DC (the 90's one, not the 80's DC) is easily the superior cut in every way.
