Title: Help me pick out a Laptop, Evilbore!
Post by: CrystalGemini on December 12, 2007, 06:10:37 AM
My mom's getting me a laptop for Christmas!  Didn't think I'd be getting one so soon so I'm somewhat lost as to what to get.   :-\

I need something that can run the following programs well:

AutoCAD 2006+
AccuRender 3.0+
Adobe Creative Suite (CS2+)
Adobe Acrobat

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   :)

I've heard good things about the Dell XPS.  It should be able to do moderate video editing level things.

what viz said. that, or the dell xps 1330. those are the two best mid-range laptops on the market. make sure you get it with the geforce 8400M, though.

Crystal:

Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 doesn't work with Vista, from what I understand. 2.3 does, though it's not officially supported or whatever.

Might be something to think about.
