I've been watching a lot of my SNL Season 2 disks and so I AM CURIOUS.
When there was some overlap I just put them in whatever there first group/most important was.
-
well I haven't seen any from the last 5 years so it's hard to judge.

I don't really differentiate between the Dana Carvey Phil Hartman era and the Chris Farley Mike Meyers era...there were definitely a couple seasons when those two groups were acting on the same show. I don't want to have to choose. :-/

I have a difficult time seperating the show from the associated movies when the older casts are concerned. The Chase/Aykroyd/Belushi/Murray set generated some of the best comedies of the 80's. Even the lesser flicks, like Spies Like Us, are better than puke like Hot Rod, Ladies Man, Anchorman, or Adam Sandler Movie #2245. So they win.

While a few stuck around for the early 90's there was a defintitive shift in the how the show was from the mid 80's to early 90's era.
But I agree with the other posts, the original cast wins by a longshot.

Oh this is no contest. Mid to late 70s era for the fucking win. Bill Murray <3

than puke like Hot Rod, Ladies Man, Anchorman
:lol Damn. Why did everyone hate Anchorman?

Will Ferrell used to visit my friend at the dorms before he became a big star. He was already on SNL but he wasn't making movies yet. I wonder if he's still as cool and humble now that he makes $15 million per film.

every interview I've seen with Will Ferrel has him coming across as a really humble and chilled out guy.
