DVD_TV of Halloween!  Hellraiser double feature!  This doesn't even talk about the classic Nightmare on Elm Street, The Lost Boys, The Fly,  Chucky, Godzilla and all the classic Universal monster features (we're talking Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, etc.).  Best Monsterfest ever!

By the way, they've got all of the Halloween films save for worst installment (Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers aka The One that Killed Donald Pleasance) and H20.  They'll be airing Halloween, Halloween II and Halloween III (and the others, but I'll shut them off by then) on Halloween obviously.  Gonna be awesome.

I'm more excited by the Hellraiser Double Feature, being able to see Legion: Exorcist III again, The Lost Boys and all the classic Universal monster movies.  Gonna be a great 10 days.

That one chick in I think it was Halloween 4 had a kickass bod. :D  Seriously though, the Halloween flicks are my favorite horror movies (particularly parts 1, 2, and 5).  I have nightmares with Michael Myers in them about twice a year. :P

That's exactly what I was about to post :lol

She loses her ability to speak in Halloween V if I remember correctly. What a crappy movie. IV and V both sucked, although there are some funny parts.

Only good thing about them is that doctor with the burned face

Are you talking about Donald Pleasance?  He's practically in all of them!  He even made it to NUMBER SIX, which is the worst one and it stars Paul Rudd (as Tommy Doyle!).  Halloween 4 and 5 are pretty mediocre, but there's something about how they're shot, be it film stock or lighting or the set pieces - but they creep me out.  Just the look creeps me out.

That little girl did grow up to be quite a cutie, though.

I've never watched AMC.  Do they show these uncut?  Commercials?

Willco, what percentage of these do you have on DVD?

Well, obviously there are commercials and some parts are edited.  AMC is better than most in letting things slide, though.

How many of the movies they're airing do I own on DVD or Halloween films?

How many of the total list - Hellraisers, Haloweens, etc.  I figured you'd have all the staples.

Yup, that's him.

The first Halloween is classic. To this day I still remember sneeking downstairs to watch the movie at my grandma's house. That opening scene freaked me out so bad I ran back upstairs, then came back and turned all the lights on :lol

Well now you've sussed me out! ;)  Nah, that blonde chick who worked at the drug store iirc.  The one the main character's BF cheats on her with.  The sheriff's daughter.

Of the crap on AMC, I've got Halloween, Halloween II, The Fly (I love Cronenberg in general, but I am totally missing The Brood from my collection), The Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street and a couple I'm forgetting off the top of my head.  I left my VHS copies of the Friday the 13th series back East (which I contend is the only way to watch them).  I don't own too many DVDs compared to many of the posters here.

Monsterfest is not just airing of films, it's kind of like a tradition.  I've been there since year one and Monsterfest is something that I've grown up with.  And - yes - while there are commercials and AMC edits/blurs out nudity, they let a lot of stuff slide and they've got a lot of fun, original content too.

Well now you've sussed me out! ;)  Nah, that blonde chick who worked at the drug store iirc.  The one the main character's BF cheats on her with.  The sheriff's daughter.

Haha, yeah, she's a hottie.  I like how she's just wearing an oversized t-shirt in that film, and it's OK.

Speaking of that little girl, though, she grew up to be really stunning.  A quick search on imdb reveals that her name is Danielle Harris:

Not sure why the image shows up during my post preview but not in the actual post, but this is the best pic of her imo (you have to copy and paste the link in your browser):

Michael Myers was the surgeon

Hah, that reminds me of that scene in I think it's part 6, where he's about to enter the operating room to kill all the doctors/nurses who were members of that cult, and he initially goes for a small knife, and then his hand pauses (you can picture him saying to himself, "this just won't do") and moves over to the giganto-knife for maximum damage.  He didn't even have to find their weak point! ;)

The worst part of that film is when he discovers the ability to teleport!

Doesn't he do that in every movie?  Doesn't every baddie in every horror flick? :D  Or are you talking about a specific scene(s)?

The soundtrack is a huge part of Halloween's macabre allure imo.

Female circumcision should be legalized before breast reduction surgery should ever be legalized. WHAT A CRIME!

This is why we need a viable third party in Washington -- to effect meaningful reforms like this! :D

No, I'm not talking about, "Wow, he got there quick by walking!"

I mean, there are specific instances in Halloween 6 where he's coming at them from one direction and they literally turn around and he's there from the other direction.

I was 5-years-old when I first saw The Fly.  Our day care center person thought it was okay for us to see because it was on network television, and when he broke that dude's arm, everybody screamed.  It was hilarious.

I really like Halloween III. That catchy jingle that kills all the kids, moron, it creeps me THE FUCK OUT. Also, I am not a big fan of people getting their eyeballs gouged out or their heads ripped off their bodies by cyborgs, so all those things add up to one frightening fucking experience.

Hey, don't call me a moron.  It obviously kills more than just kids, as evident by that awesome scene where that kids face melts and all that crazy shit comes out and devours the parents.  So great.

Halloween III is just so bizarre that it has a special place in my heart.

When will these kids learn. DON'T GO INTO DARK HOUSES

If your lights go out, jump out the nearest window. DO NOT run to the front door

If you hear something in the basement, DO NOT go down there. Run out the house

If there's a black person in the house, make him/her sit near the back door while you run out the front. The black person always dies first

In Halloween III, there is nowhere for the kids to hide!

This is a true story.  On Halloween night, my best friend and a good friend of ours (he's black, this will matter later on) embarked to a haunted house thing for some rousing Halloween fun.  We had to go through the backroads of Maryland, where there wouldn't be houses for miles or anything resembling civilization.  It was a clear, black night with an almost full moon, so the fields and forests were lit with the moonlight.

After awhile, we admitted we were lost, and in an attempt to salvage what was left of our night, we thought about going to see the recently released Director's Cut of Alien.  I called the Rio (I bet Mandark will only get this local reference) using my cell phone to find showtimes.  My phone and the car both die at the same time.

Creepy.

My phone remains dead, but we get the car up and going to in hopes of getting us to a better lit part of the road.  It was small and narrow, with a forest hill on the side and we were afraid of being hit by one of the ten cars that went by in an hour.  Plus, it was just scary - there were no houses or anything.  We ended up stalling at a worse part of the road.

At this point, we were a bit creeped out, fearing a real-life Deliverance or The Hills Have Eyes considering it was Halloween after all.  My friend, the one who happened to be black, was the most freaked.  He was very urban and hated the country, for obvious reasons (I'll stand by his remark that there is still some racism left in the countrysides of Maryland).  My best friend told him that he should wait outside, to give us a fighting chance, because the black guy always dies first  :lol

After an hour, the most country bumpkin sheriff you've ever seen in your life (all he was missing was chewing a long piece of wheat grain ) comes by and goes, "YOU ALL NEED SOME HELP?"  Out of fear (we've seen this movie before), my friend immediately remarked, "NAH WE FINE WE COOL LATER GOODBYE!" and rolls up his window  :lol

My best friend and I both yelled at him, since we were stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Then, out of nowhere, comes two tow trucks on the way back to Germantown, Maryland (that's where we all lived).  They saw us and stopped, saying they had just enough space to give the three of us a ride and tow my friend's car.  He said he'd charge us only $60 since they were heading there anyway, and we quickly pooled our resources and gave them their thanks.

How is that for a weird coincidence.

We made it back home in time to catch the tail end of Monsterfest and hit the grocery store for frozen pizza and junk food, so it was not completely blown.

But I will never forget that.

Amen.

Although we were livid at the time, because our friend blew off possibly our only chance to get the hell out of the most Blair Witch Project-looking part of Maryland due to racism and horror film cliches, it probably was for the best.

Because after they kill the black dude, we were going to be next.  And the black guy is always your best chance for survival.

Donald Pleasance gets creepier and creepier as the series progresses.  I swear, by Halloween 6, Dr. Loomis is scarier than Michael Myers.  He's got this child molestor/pedophile vibe going.

The scene where Sheriff Meeker and Dr. Loomis return to the police station, only to find it destroyed by Michael, is awesome.

A big hole in the story is why they don't bother trying to find Michael's remains after they pump him full of lead at the end of 4.  This allows him to float down the river and convalesce in that old guy's shack.

FUCK YES

I figured out why I didn't get AMC and all those other channels. The previous owner of the TV had a shit load of channels on "skip", so I went to the menu and added them all back. YES

While I was at my parent's house earlier today I watched some of HELLRAISER. Guys, this movie is so awesome. But I missed like the first 20min or so. I started watching when they were moving into the house, and the husband cut his hand on a nail while moving a bed upstairs. So I don't really know who "Frank" was. I saw a part where the stepmom had a flashback and rememebered him saying he was "Brother Frank". Later I saw that he opened the pandora's box. I'm guessing that he was the leader of some satanic worshipper cult or something. I didn't get to see much else after the pandora box was opened.

But what I was was BADASS. I loved the music; it really set the tone for the movie. Also, the makeup/puppets/etc was very well done. Nothing looked too cheesy either.

One of the Friday the 13th movies is on right now though :-*

The Exorcist II: The Heretic is arguably one of the worst horror films ever made.  Not just because of bad acting or bad writing or bad directing, which is abundant in the genre, but that it takes those awful attributes and wraps them in one of the most BORING STORIES EVER.

I started watching a little bit of The Exorcist II the other night, but thought better and changed the channel to something else.  After years and years of hearing and reading about how turdtacular it is, I figured I'd better continue on with having not seen it.
