fuck Enchanted Arms is sweet! b-grade jrpgs :bow Im loving the homo dude, hes so fucking blatantly homo, in the first half hour of the game hes already going on about how much he loves some other dude in your party omg, I can see this being one of the better rpgs. (for that reason alone :o )Field screens look like Dreamcast graphics but who cares!
This totally seems like my kind of game, its average and it knows it! Im going to sink plenty of hours into this tomorrow!

:bow :bow
awesome game
-
its so awesome i have it for X360 and PS3
-
It's easy and tolerable, yeah
And all you gotta do is beat the game to get all 1000
All RPGs should be that way! On the 360.
-
i still haven't beaten it. :-\
-
is this a good rpg? I saw the trailer and I thought the battle system looked a little weird, and have no idea what the story is about either.

it's completely middle-ground
not awful (Eternal Sonata) and not good (Blue Dragon)
just a quick 1000 achievement points, but not while completely being not worth it
does that make sense? it should.

So would it be like banging a fat chick for money?

fo sho, and nothing wrong with fatties

Enchanted Arms had one awesome thing that all turn based JRPGs will benefit from.
FAST FORWARD BUTTON
Chrono Cross had one if i recall correctly but not after beating the game.

its true
but the game is fine, a fairly large amount of character and party customisation if youre into that sort of thing, kinda unique battle system. Cookie cutter cliche characters, but thats actually a plus imo If you approach the game the right way. Makato :bow
If youre into rpgs I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this. Its cheap

okay played this for about 8 hours today, fueled by several shots of grey goose, a sack of roll your own cigarettes and 6 bottles of grolsch I earned my 1000 points, fucking choice ending
onto Eternal Sonata! Im looking forward to playing a jrpg with an actual proper soundtrack

I'm actually playing through Eternal Sonata and I'm only about 3 or 4 hours in and I'm really kind of amazed that I like it as much as I do. The story and VO suck big ol' balls, and the game is as linear as a railroad track so far but the combat is actually very enjoyable and the graphics/music are OMFG awesome - much better than I was anticipating. Infact when I was playing last night, Shane's comment about how it looks like a Dreamcast game kept running through my mind and while that statement seemed pretty damn insane before I even touched the game, now that I've gone through a few hours Shane looks shitballs monkey fucking distinguished mentally-challenged. The game is gorgeous.
-
I just played through the 1st hour or so of Eternal Sonata, looks fucking sweet and the music was everything I hoped for.. Im going to enjoy this game a bunch it seems
and who is 'shane'?

Shane -aka "Mangod" by GAF - EGM senior editor and one of the guys on the 1up podcast. He's like Phil Harrison's love child.
-
When Shane takes the pinecone out of his ass removes his PR jacket I find him to be pretty enjoyable, but yeah the guy really says some off the wall shit and contradicts himself on a weekly basis. I think what really confuses me about the guy is how he could be the senior editor of EGM and have not played some of the biggest games of the year but he's intimately familiar with every bizarre game that gets released over in Japan, or Mexico, or a Hong Kong restroom. I don't know whether he's just playing teh stoopid or if he just absolutely refuses to touch a 360.
-
I really want to see Enchanted Arms 2 :-\
i think it have a lot of potential.

Enchanted Arms was awesome.
I might go back to Rusty Bellend after I beat Lost Odyssey. The only thing drawing me to play it was the awesome Sakuraba music and the cool bits of info about Chopin. The total lack of monster variety is quite painful, and having to hear "Orange Cure" every minute gives me a headache too.
Yeah, I'm kinda digging the little photo slide shows about Chopin's real life and the story behind some of his most famous pieces. I never thought that'd I'd actually LEARN something while playing Eternal Sonata...well, outside of learning that I want to strangle Polka and Beat.

You ditch Polka early in the game and never have to use her again. I used Alegretto, Chopin, and Viola (other good choices are Salsa and Falsetto)

I played a few hours of Enchanted Arms today, and Holy RPG Clichés, Batman! The festival, the battle arena, the sewers, the hometown destruction, the prison, the kid that has incredible powers and a mysterious past and occasionally goes berserk and kills people, it's like they swiped the Square-Enix playbook.
-
for some reason the cliches made the game better! for me at least, its an awesome RPG
the ending is a major fucking payoff, worth every second of gameplay (very rare these days to have an ending that was worth a 40 hour quest)
and an easy 1000 points, you dont have to worry about securing 'enemy intel' or any of that

The further I got into Eternal Sonata the further I began to understand why people hate it. It's sooo boring. I finally had to call it quits during the middle of the 3rd chapter. Man, the game starts out so promising but it ends up taking you through one lame "dungeon" after another without any let up fighting the same enemies over and over again. The combat was initially enjoyable but when you fight the same damn monsters continously you could fight them with your eyes closed. The story so stupid that I honestly begin to question the people's sanity that write this crap. "If I am dreaming does that not mean that my dreams are real? And if they are real does that mean that I am in a dream or is this a new reality?" WTF is wrong with Japan? Way too many of their RPGs are filled with existentialistic metaphyiscs bullshit written by drunken 12 year olds.
*sigh*
So much promise, so much faliure. I still like the little vignettes about Chopin's real life and the story behind some of his music though. That was a nice touch.

sounds like my kind of rpg!
Im loving it... different strokes different folks I guess
