Who said Blade Runner was pedestrian?

What does that mean?  That it's ordinary?

it was PD, he said Blade Runner and 2001 were 7/10 movies at best and only remembered for their visuals ::)

BR had great atmosphere, setting, lighting and special effects but lacked in everything else.

I had to vote for Nintendo fanboys. While we all think PD is an idiot for his comments, at least he was still using his mind to formulate an opinion.

Blade Runner really WASN'T all that good.  Boring as hell.  Looked awesome though!

I'm not the hugest fan of it either, even if it does look incredible. It's definitely not "pedestrian" though.

But 2001... 8)

blade runner pedestrian? wtf, I have probably the worst taste in film on this entire board and I wouldn't make that claim. Vangelis' soundtrack alone makes that movie awesome.

libertarians/free market fundies are easily the worst, and have been since the early days of usenet. reasoning or even debating with them is nearly impossible, as they show the same sort of faith in the invisible hand as a doomsday southern baptist has in their god's imminent return.

don't get me wrong though-ninthings are indeed awful-but as long as you stick to fairly mature message boards they tend to not be so completely intolerable.

Well, to be fair. Next to 2001  Blade Runner is probably the closest thing to a true cinema classic that the sci-fi general has. Stuff like Star Wars, Alien, Terminator 2...etc are just blockbusters. 2001 and Blade Runner alone stand above the genre as classic cinema.

Oh well fuck, Blade Runner is definitely better than those.  Just thought it was all around, pretty boring.

2001 though, :bow.

This is truth. :bow 2001 and Blade Runner represent real Sci-Fi, not Space Opera, Action/Adventure stuff that most people think of when they think of Sci-Fi. Most people don't even know what real Sci-Fi is.

It was just a bit boring, and the ending didn't make sense. All of a sudden he's in a gunfight with Hauer and act like they've known eachother for years.

I got chills at the last moments of the film though when they stepped into the elevator and the awesome Vangelis theme started playing :bow

Solaris I admit I haven't seen. But planet of the apes? I LOVE planet of the apes but its very much a 60's studio blockbuster type of flick. I wouldn't put it alongside 2001. I could see why others would though, for 60's sci-fi it was damn philosophical.
